    1. It's a Metal Box , that's for sure but ....I don't know if anything short of sealing our items in Glass will protect them for 100's of years. (maybe we don't have to worry about 100's of years) What about the paint used on the Steel ..will the Metal sweat ? What type of Oil did they use to Lube the rollers (for the Drawers) ..Is the Cabinet Air Tight ? No matter what we find ..there'll probably always be questions since our Homes are not a "Controled Environment" to begin with.
    2. I use about 30 Ryker's and never noticed any tarnish or damage . About once a year I open every Ryker Mount and clean the Glass ...there always seems to be a "film" that clouds the inside of the Glass. I remember some Collectors saying that since they are not sealed Air Tight , any "gasses" produced by the Cardboard or Glue should vent and not harm the Medals ....if that was true , then where is that "Film" residue coming from ? Always wondered about that
    3. You're right Ed ..I'm sure things will get a lot more interesting. Not to turn it into a political thread but ..Whether it's Adolf or Stalin ..I hate seeing these things glorified. To save them as a piece of History is one thing , but keeping them on Public display to instill a sense of pride is another. I wonder how the Russian Schools cover that era. Well..It's good to know that at least some Russians have the right "attitude"
    4. Wow !! ..2006 ?? From the looks of it ?some of the Russians still get that ?warm & fuzzy? feeling from the old Soviet days and many of their icons are still intact. Maybe they plan on going back to the old ways ?
    5. Thanks for getting back to me on it . The reason I asked is ...there's another thread elsewhere that has another Silver Nurnberg Badge with a "1000" stamped in the back and someone thought it might be the Silver Content mark. I don't think that's the case
    6. Hi Butch , I love diverse collections , nice "spread" I'm interested in that Nurnberg Party Badge though (next to the cloth Pilot Badge) are there any markings on the back ? Could you post a close up of it ?
    7. I always remembered the story that the Family loaned one of his Uniforms to James Mason for the "Desert Fox" but , the Tunic was never returned to the Family. I never found out if there was any truth to that or not.
    8. Museums are probably considered exempt from Penal Code 86 & 86a since the items are there for study. But I bet if you Clicked your Heels and start humming the wrong song ..they'd drag you out of the Museum in a heartbeat
    9. I'm not sure how this lower "stage" worked ..the RPG7 seemed to have a Rocket Motor where this 9 model has some sort of a booster charge that clips on the bottom. Like anything else , I'll have to learn about it before I display it
    10. I was able to find 2 orig Training Posters for the RPG7 ..maybe I can do the same for this one and have them mounted in a case ...that should stop all the kids from trying to touch it. That's the only problem I've had doing public displays ..people like to play with the items
    11. I just added another one to my sub collection . This one's an RPG9 and also in fantastic condition. Either this was never live or the EOD guys did a great job "cleaning it out" for training. I can't find that much ref on the web regarding this Model. I've been loaning items to a local Unit (Recruiting and Retention events & displays) ...and that first RPG had a lot of interest ...of course I put a Panzerfaust 60 with them to show the "evolution" of this deadly weapon.
    12. What a fantastic example Bill ?you were lucky to find it and in mint condition ! Wait a minute ..., what are you doing with Uniforms now ? I remember years ago you told me that space was an issue and you were concentrating on Police Sleeve Eagles and other cloth items. It looks like the ?Gotta-haveit? Bug bit you properly now ! That same Bug got me a long time ago. We rarely see these today . I always wondered what happened to these Tunics and why they were not saved . There was a veteran that told me once that most of the ?Guys? always looked for War Souvenirs that only had the Eagle and Swas somewhere to prove it was Nazi ?they didn?t want WW1 uniforms. I always wondered if these Uniforms were overlooked because they lacked a Breast Eagle . Maybe they weren?t flashy enough or ?Nazi? enough for them to take as a Souvenir
    13. Unfortunately I didn?t take an overall shot of the Stone so I don?t have his full name or the dates. He?s buried in Fitchburg Ma and I might be back up there in a week ?I?ll try to get a few more pictures.
    14. This is getting interesting ...even if the symbol was used by the AFL for a short time , why would he have it put on his Headstone if obsolete ?
    15. You're right ...I didn't even notice that folding ruler. That must be what it is. Maybe someday we'll run into something more on this "group".
    16. I'm not sure what it is ...maybe a Carpenter's Wood Plane ? I remember seeing the JOUAM symbol and even know a Brother who was convinced that symbol was Masonic (which it is not) and represented an old forgotten branch of Masonry that protected the Lodge I tried telling him that we never had our own version of the "SA" ..but he wouldn't listen. He even went so far as to have that JOUAM Symbol tattooed on his Arm. He should have done his homework before he did that. Here's the JOUAM logo in case someone is wondering what it looks like -
    17. I visited my Dad?s grave this week and while driving through the Cemetery I noticed a Headstone with an upside down Square & Compass . Could this be for some Labor fraternity or Lodge modeled after the Blue Lodge ? I?ve never seen this before and that?s the only explanation I could think of because of the inscription . Have any of you run into this before ?
    18. Great example .. I've never seen it confirmed in a Book but , I have a theory that during the War these Black Luftschutz Helmets (with front decal) were used by Factory Civil Defense/Police Guards. I have a few that also have the Luftschutz Decal on the front and a Company Logo on the side ..all Black. Since the "Luftschutz" and the Logo was done away with after the War , I think they removed the official front Decal and put the Company name on the front . Is there any sign of another decal ever being on the left side ?
    19. I heard from Vesuvio today ..he returned it and got a full refund .
    20. One thing I will add ..the Juncker marking on this does not match with other accepted "CEJ" markings. Has anyone seen that Juncker had or used different MM stamps that match this ? If not ..there could be a problem. Here's an example of a real "CEJ" mm --
