    1. You bring up a good point, did those who died much later from wounds or whatnot become KIA statistics and thus qualify the next-of-kin for this award?
    2. It's mysterious, I wonder if this guy was a victim of shell shock.
    3. Thanks for the clarification. I saw a lecture many years ago by, I believe, the nephew of this guy, who quit his job at the UN in protest over the actions of Madeleine Albright.
    4. Wasn't this the Sponeck who was sentenced to death for retreating?
    5. Hi Richard, If you could provide a detailed image of pages 10 and 11, that would be great. Looks like this guy was released from service and given a pension, not sure why. The Widow's Cross is also a bit of a mystery. Regarding awards, he received 'Keine', or none.
    6. It's possible, but keep in mind that this award in particular has been heavily faked in recent years. Hopefully one of our Oldenburg specialists can chime in.
    7. Thanks Lars, I was aware of the confusing timeline regarding this award. And an ID of this bar would be nice. It had an Ehrenlegion medal tacked on the end originally, so this guy was apparently alive in the interwar period.
    8. Is it hollow? Any maker marks? Is that a crack in the obverse medallion?
    9. This bar has the Reuss Civil Merit Cross 3rd Class on it. I'm assuming that this is a relatively scarce award, as I've never seen another on a mounted group.
    10. Aha, I actually could use that set as a replacement for a Marine aviator set I have.
    11. Nice pickup, sometimes waiting and lowballing people is a good strategy.
    12. I see what you mean about that St. Henry, what a piece. And I've been having dreams about that Black Eagle with brilliants.
    13. More outstanding material. I like the looks of that VOmS breast star, and I would be quite interested to know the weight of that St. Henry Medal to compare with my 1870 example.
    14. You're right Rick, I laughed at this one and the other, they are laughable attempts at Ordensbindung. In fact my crappy attempts look professional next to this garbage. Only value is in the parts.
    15. It's the Principality of Reuss Civil Merit Cross 3rd Class.
    16. Bored? I just about fell off my chair here. I'm guessing that Russian PLM as Napoleonic era? And I think our friend Rudy would like to see these Helms.
    17. I needed to get my sunglasses out to view this thread. Now to the wayback machine to score some of these goodies for cheap.
    18. Mostly true, the exceptions being the Kingdom of Hannover and the Baden Merit Medal.
    19. Great, it was bad enough with the Schraegstich Faker, now we have this guy as well.
    20. Interesting paperwork, this guy sure saw a lot of action on the eastern front.
    21. Thanks for posting these, some really first rate items.
    22. I've never heard of an award of the Ehrenbecher any later than 1919.
    23. Thanks Mike. According to 'the Germans' over at another forum, you can distinguish the earlier coinages by weight.
