i was looking at the auction last night. many fine items. one would need to have a very large wallet...
and i agree about the catalogue; i was thinking the same: very nicely done!
i liken this discussion to others which have had to do with whether or not an engraving on an award is contemporary or not. sometimes you just can't tell. i for one hope this medal bar is good.
yep! too bad it's not hallmarked--i'd love to find out more about it. as i mentioned before, i've never come across something like this in all the years
four variants so far...and then there are two types of miniatures that i know of. one style replicates the full-sized version, and the other type merely shows the head of the soldier on the center disc.
rick,
none of the cards were mailed and only one has anything written on it. the cards are a mix of military and post-military life (the guy's wife/daughter, his kegel club, etc). the 4-medal bar, although very nice, is a standard 30s era (HK) with the usual stuff.
here's an image of the card with writing on the reverse:
mausoleum

however, i just noticed this particular item a few months ago, and i thought some of you might like to see it. boonzaier in particular. here goes:
here's a full-sized and well worn watch fob for a black grade wound badge. never encountered one of these before. not marked for silver content, but it probably is.
