    1. Every now and then research pays off - no I didn't find the owner of this bar, but going through my 1914 Ranklist I bought from some dealer in Germany (who probably never opened the thing) I stumbled on this along the way. Must be the Irish blood in me If the picture isn't great, ya its a real (old) 4 leaf clover - lol.
    2. This is my first real medal bar related photo - have other imperial pictures, but this one is pretty special. The photo has an Altenburg photographer stamp to the rear, I'm assuming 8. Thüringisches Infanterie-Regt. Nr.153. Can't really make out bandeaux or shoulder straps to confirm. Enjoy Luke
    3. #6 - thread doesn't appear mettalic - just yellow #7 - correct, white with red edges LM
    4. Hi Christophe - thanks so much, email sent Rick - ya I'd like an Epson - I'm slumming as far as scanners go - I've cropped and cropped and cropped til I can't crop no more You can only shave so much hair til you're bald... Luke
    5. ahhhh - ya no way I can get in under 70K limit - any chance I could send pics to someone to do pity post? Luc M
    6. At long last this arrived, my first "old style" ribbon bar. Can't get over the weight on these things, alot more than I expected. Not entirely sure what the last 2 decorations are, I was thinking Japanese Sun & Kite Orders, but just a guess. Any Chance traceable? Cheers, LM
    7. Sorry in advance I've had to crop the pics like crazy to get in under the size limit. I chopped rear in half to get inscription in
    8. Hi guys - just picked up this photo - unfortunately no medalbar and only a fairly standard Überrock being worn. Pretty interesting, dedication on the back s/l Lange and dated 1898, photographer is out of Breslau. I know its quite a bit later, but the only resource I have handy right now is a 1914 ranklist - and hey, he looks fairly young, maybe he stuck it out that long and is one of the two listed there. -One is a Hauptmann in IR 129 -One is a Rittmeister in JzP Regt 13 My possibly crazy logic is if it is one of these two guys, the photo being taken in Breslau perhaps our Rittmeister was formerly a member of the Leib-Kürassier-Regt. Großer Kurfürst (Schlesisches) Nr.1 before at some point moving onto the JzP - one lobster tail to another, seems like a reasonable transition Maybe some can can assist - or spoil my entire theory and my night by adding another of the clan into the mix that my puny resource library is missing Cheers, Luc
    9. Not sure if any Imperial era ones still exist. Great book to read up on the fates of the bulk of the Imperial Uboats is Verschollen by Dwight Messimer. Interesting read. Cheers, Luc
    10. #238 is a great picture - good example of a Saxon IOD in wear. Absolutely love this picture Christophe I don't happen to have a picture of one of these degens in wear unfortunately...yet. My interests while collecting swords always seemed to stray to the Cavalry side of things, but these are truly beautiful and very distinctive degens.
    11. No I wasn't looking to discuss the piece. Not sure how that's questionable. I'm comfortable enough with the piece right now. Once its in hand if I have issues definitely I'd want to bounce it off others. This particular forum is the research forum yes? I was simply trying to research the cypher. Anyway your input is appeciated. Once the piece is in hand, like any piece it'll get a good once over. From the pics though I can't see anything glaringly wrong. Perhaps once the piece arrives ill post in the appropriate forum if I have doubts etc. Best regards. Luke
