    1. Hello Gentlemen, here are pictures of recent version of the St. Karya Satya for 10 & 20 Years of Service respectively. Emmanuel
    2. Hello Gentlemen, here is my contribution to this topic with an old St. Karya Satya 3rd Class. I got it from a fellow in Singapore who himself bought it in Indonesia long time ago. It's an old strike very heavy (24 grammes) and with sharp details. The class was awarded in connection with the rank of the person who was awarded the medal,in the civil administration. Emmanuel
    3. On 4 october 1984 President Moubarak decided to return to the Egale of Saladin design (but without the 2 stars in the white central stripes).Few insignia of this type have been observed, but the star below is part of the 2nd Class of the Order of the Republic awarded to Jean Leclant (egyptologist and perpetual Secretary of the Academie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres) on 30 september 1987. His insignia have been given to the Museum of the Legion of Honour in Paris. Emmanuel
    4. As I wrote previously President Sadate choose to adop the hawk on the suspension of the Order of the Republic (but also on the Order of Merit) on 1 january 1972. I do not have such type in my collection,so I have scanned the page from the Book of Egyptian Protocol,a gift from Mr Bichay who was a very kind person. He passed away during summer 2004. Emmanuel
    5. Here is the case for the 2nd Class of the Order of the Republic 1953-58. Emmanuel
    6. At its creation in 1953 the Order of the Republic had a slightly different shape,as the 5 tip star pointed upward (after 1958 the star point downward). Also note the "lily" suspension which was also on lower class insignia. The blue colour is also lighter than on the later version of the Order. Emmanuel
    7. And here is the case in which the officer of the Order of the Republic shown above was. Those who read arab will certainly be able to read the name of the recipient. Emmanuel
    8. Hello Gentlemen, the type of insignia show by Markus (with eagle & 2 stars in the white stripes) is the type of the United Arab Republic (formed by the political union of Egypt & Syria in 1958).The Eagle is the Eagle of Saladin.Despite Syria left the union in 1961 the Eagle of Saladin was used on the insignia of the Order of the Republic (but also on the others Orders) until 1 january 1972 (when it was replaced by a hawk. Here you can see an Officer of the Order of the Republic of the same period 1958-71. The manufacturer is ever Bichay (whatever the period, even from 1953 to 1958). Emmanuel
    9. And here a rarely seen one.The lowest rank of Order of Pakistan : Tamgha I Pakistan ( insignia of the 1st type 1957-75). Reverse is blank. Emmanuel
    10. Hello Gentlemen, this is a Hilal I Pakistan (2nd Class of Order of Pakistan).Insignia of the 1st type 1957-75. Reverse is unnamed on mine, but I had the one of Maurice Couve de Murville in hands (Spink april 2006) and his Hilal I Pakistan was named on reverse. One year ago there was an ebay seller in Pakistan that had a small soft cover booklet on Pakistan awards (he had only 20 books) and he sold them very fast.In this books were also the Orders of Bahawalpur. Regards. Emmanuel
    11. Hello James,is this 1st Class a medal you own ? Is the badge struck in 1 piece ,or is center separately struck ? Look the post concerning the 4th Class of that same award I recently purchased in Singapore, watch oak leaf around center,on the picture of the 1st class you have posted the center seems to be inverted. Regards. Emmanuel
    12. Hello Gentlemen, from a recent trip in Singapore a local dealer sold me this. It's from the Sultanate of Surakarta : Bintang Sri Nugraha 4th Class (the javanese figure for 4 looks like our 3,but it's definitely a 4th class). Very good quality bronze and struck in 1 piece.Ribbon seems to be the one it was originally awarded with. Emmanuel
    13. Hello Gentlemen, this is a real one Cross of Independence with Swords.Real one are not easy to get at all (the first one I owned was a fake of the 50ies like the one posted above).Very sad is that the picture in Vernon book's is of that similar fake.I'd later bought polish specialised books and I realised my error. As you can see the suspension to ribbon with typical curvy line and quality is extremely good. Size : 40 x 40 millimeters for the cross itself & 67 millimeters from bottom to top of suspension. The ribbon is 37 millimeters wide and of very good quality (on the later fake, the ribbon is almost flimsy (weak)....) Emmanuel
    14. Hello Alex, yes it's a beautifull 5 th class. According to the picture you posted I would say it's 40 years old or more (before King Birendra).Recently made such awards are very ugly quality silvered metal and NOT hallmarked. Also ribbon of recently made awards are slightly different. You could contact Ramesh Shrestha : nepal1@mail.com I'am sure he could help you to date the award (with hallmark picture). You can tell him that Emmanuel from Belgium gave you his email. Low class & old Orders of Nepal are seldom seen, the price you paid for what is to my opinion a 1950ies item sounds good. For a recently made dealers ask less, but you wouldn't have been happy by the quality. In my collection I have a thrid class of that same award,it's exactly the same except it's silver-gilt.But I hop to come across one day an early 5th class. Regards. Emmanuel
    15. Hello Linas One thing very important to be learned about real chinse breast star before 1949 (and also those who continued to be issued in Tawain after 1949) is that the reverse is always silver gilt !!!! All these ugly quality fakes sold on ebay nowdays have their reverse silvered (actually they are not manufactured in silver, but it looks like silver). Also all chinese Orders issued after 1929 (Kuo Min Tang) have their reverse without enamel (Cloud & Banner,Precious Tripod,Brilliant Jade,,Brilliant Star,Victory ........) show mintmark identification (in chinese) + issue number. As long as I can remember none of these fakes are numbered. Chinese Orders from the Empire and from the Republic 1912-29 are often not numbered (some Golden Grain breast star are),but again reverse of breast star are silver gilt !!! Also real Chinese Orders were of exceptionnally good quality (fakes on ebay are so poorly made). I have to add that to learn from forum or from book without going to medal collector meeting is difficult & hard.I don't know from which country you write.... You can apply to be member of collector society like OMSA (USA but lots of articles on world awards) or BDOS (Germany) but they are many others. And also buy books !!!!! Always buy books.Last year a very valuable book on chinese Orders has been published, price 260 US $ but it worth !! When you buy book you learn, and book & society of collectors may help you to not waist money in buying rubbish fakes from China. Regards. Emmanuel.
    16. Hello Gentlemen, could any one help to indentify this decoration in silver & enamel ? Size : 41 x 45 millimeters. Weight : 20 grammes without ribbon & 22 grammes with its ribbon. Regards. Emmanuel
    17. Hello Gentlemen, I saw the item that you mention on ebay. The reverse was silver & not numbered..... Real one reverse of chinese Orders are silver gilt !!!! And Could & Banners are always numbered. I agree the item that was offered on ebay look better than the "older fake" ,by older I mean fake made 3 to 5 years in the past. It seems chinese fake makers are rising their quality and will deceive more & more collectors. Emmanuel
    18. Hello Noor, It's possible that the cross that was sold on ebay in august 2007 was awarded to a fallen soldier and then the family told it to the guy who purchased it.I guess that 50 years after the family wasn't aware of the regulation concerning this award. When I wrote the text,I just copy the text that was on the ebay page.Sometime on item of specific interest (or so few or never documented),I print the ebay page to keep it in my file.I did it for that Maceo Cross. I know a fellow collector from Belgium that has been more than 10 times to Havana, but he never saw that cross. Emmanuel
    19. The first ribbon on the 1st row is Cross of Maceo for Military Valour. In summer 2007 such cross pass on ebay.I tried to get it,but I failed. Anyway I kept picture in my computer data base and at least it helps. The description in the ebay announce was : " Maceo Military Honour Cross awarded to cuban soldier of Battista Government who died defending the Moncada Quarter Army Barracks" in 1953".The family that sold that cross to the ebay seller told him that only 31 of these cross was given to families of soldiers and that it was the most important military award from before 1959. Size is 45 millimeters. Emmanuel
    20. This is the Liberation Medal (but in bad condition,....found like that). I agree he couldn't have ben awarded the 10th Anniversary of Revolution, that's why I wrote it's strange. On the colour picture of Naguib you posted, the 1st ribbon at left on 2nd row (red/green/yellow/green/red) seems to be the Egypt/Israel Independence War 1947/48 & the middle ribbon on 2nd row (red/green/red) seems to be the Centenary of Mohamed Ali Medal (issued 1949) and this medal was allowed to be worn after 1953. I have also the ribbon for Evacuation Decoration & Army Day Medal in my collection, but I was never been able to see even a sketch. Thanks for having post the draw of Bichay for the Liberation Star & Liberation Medal. I got several Orders & Medals from Egypt after Bichay died, from his son in law.I asked for these Evacuation & Army Day Medal, but what I got was ribbon.I even have the rare ribbon for the Shooting Medal (that for which we know this award exist only as a ribbon). Do you have others ? With arab countries lots of things are strange,King Abdallah II of Jordan is wearing on his medal bar the Karama Battle which was in 1968,...actually in his first official portrait he's wearing the medal bar of his father.... I also agree that the postcard of Naguib could certainly be a "colourised" black & white picture and for the ribbon bar they may have put what they had in stock at an army shop of ribbon ?? Emmanuel
    21. This is the onliest picture of the Silver Anniversary of Egyptian Air Force Medal I have. Emmanuel
    22. This is the Egypt Liberation Order ,on top there is the 2 Crossed Saber for the Army. On bottom left the Eagle for the Air Force & on right hand the 2 Ccrossed Anchors for the Navy. In center there is an arabic inscription that certainly would reads " Misr " which is the arab name for Egypt. This purely military award was only awarded in 1952/53 and reverse is plain. Its size is 46 millimeters high x 43 millimeters wide. Emmanuel
    23. Here is a better picture of General Naguib. 1st row : Liberation Order - Military Medal of the Republic (not 100 % sure) - Order of the Nile 2nd row : 10 th Anniversary of Revolution Medal - Order of the Republic ( 1st Class ) - Order of Sport ( 1st Class ) - End of Occupation Decoration 3rd row : Military Independence Decoration - Victory Decoration - Silver Anniversay of Air Force Medal - Army Day Medal The Order of the Nile had been re-instituted in 1953 as a 2 classes award (Collar for Head of State & Star & Sash for Prime Minister) The Order of the Republic had been instituted in 1953 and same for the Order pf Sport. General Naguib was forced to resign in 1954 and was under house of arrest in a villa until 1972 when he was released by President Sadate. He died in 1984. As on the picture he seems to wear the 10 th Anniversary of Revolution Medal on 2nd row,the ribbon rows may have been updated on this picture which is a postcard bought in Alexandria. I will later post picture of Indepence Decoration & Silver Anniversary of Air Force. If any one has picture of End of Occupation Decoration - Military Independence Decoration - Victory Decoration & Army Day Medal it would be nice if you could post them. Emmanuel

The onliest medal I was ever able to get is this Medal of Independence of Mozambique. I guess it was worn on a pentagonal soviet style ribbon. It is 32 millimeters in diameter and was made by Bertoni of Milan. I got it for 6 US $ in South Africa and shipping cost was higher than the medal itself. If anyone has Medals & Orders of Mozambique or any others african & far east countries that I don't have yet, I'am ever happy to buy or barter. Emmanuel
