    1. That is a medal commorating the one hundredth anniversary of 2. Nassauisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr.88 in 1908. Nice long ribbon, it looks like it may have been worn around the neck by a veteran. Dan Murphy
    2. Stogieman, Did Godet ever use that button design? I can think of three designs that they did use, but I don't think I have seen that one before. The "quality" of this piece is almost non-existant, how could anyone think that came from the premier house jeweler in Germany. Dan Murphy
    3. The front. There are some unique die characteristics which I have found on the front and back and I can forward photos to selected members upon request.
    4. Here is an one example of a correct back on a Bavarian Pilot Badge There are variations in the markings (which I will not get into here) Notice how cleanly the pin is attached to the curved part of the hinge.
    5. Paul, Per the chart by Rick pinned above, The III and X Korps plus the 5th and 6th Kavallerie Divisions all had these bars plus others. The officer was not Bavarian since the Bavarian MVO is not worn first and the long service is Prussian. I would say a senior Prussian officer with the RAO and KO moved up to the 2nd class in a unit with a Baden connection. Let us know what you find out. Dan Murphy
    6. Except for the cockade thing that Rick outlined above, it looks like a real good piece. Dan Murphy
    7. It is truly a shame that some have no respect for the dead. Having seen school children running around over graves, playing and yelling at Langemarck Cemetary in Belgium, one wonders what will become of this world. Thank you for the thread, I had no idea MvR had been moved from Berlin or that Lothar's grave was unmarked. Dan Murphy
    8. All great pieces. Especially Tom's 3 pc and Greg's screwbacks. Dan Murphy
    9. Huh???? Do my eyes decieve me or does that last bar have not one, but TWO Oldenburg Verdienst Kreuz' on it. One of each combattant and non-combattant? Either the bar is fake or it has been "messed" with. I did a double take when I saw the one on the WAF. Dan Murphy
    10. Reverse. The only mark is the "half moon/ crown/ 800" on the upper arm. Dan Murphy
    11. Here is a piece I got many years ago and I thought you would enjoy seeing it. A nice 3 pc screwback. Apparently this may have been displayed at a VFW or American Legion hall. Dan Murphy
    12. I got this group with his uniform from George Petersen way back in the day. Here is a link to his service history. Josef Brunner
    13. His rank is listed as Major from 1934 and the pass has the stamps up to and including 1938.
    14. Here is his interwar Austrian army rail pass issued in 1934.
    15. Here is his certificate from the A-H army which lists him as commander of Flik 36 (an observation unit). Notice it was signed by the adjutant and "des Kmdtr" is scratched out.
    16. Inside. This document is almost exactly one month later than Warlord's and about 100 numbers higher. Gives us a good idea of how many aviators were being trained a month.
    17. Warlord, Yours is the only A-H federation document I have seen......besides mine. I looks paltry after what was just posted but here is a document grouping to Josef Brunner. Dan Murphy
    18. George, Very nice pieces. The luger looks to be either a 40/41 dated 42 code or a 41/42 dated BYF. Either way it is a good one. Thanks for showing them. Dan Murphy
    19. Chris, Great job of bringing a "few pieces of paper" back to life. Keep up the good work. Dan Murphy
    20. Chris, Very powerful and moving story of one man. To have survived so many hellish battles in WW1, you would think he deserved to live to a ripe old age. For so many though, it was not to be. Dan Murphy
    21. I agree, it is nice to see a set. I don't think I have ever seen this style before though. It seems to have an Art Deco flair to the handles. Nice Dan Murphy
    22. Chris, Great job, I just love it when you can take an inanimate object and give it life. Dan Murphy
    23. I have repeated your questions to the owner and have not yet received his reply. To prove that the above PLM documented to Christiansen, is his, I will repeat the first photo and under it is a close up of the one Christiansen is wearing in the picture. The same size chips in the same places are visible on the PLM in the current photo AND the one taken in 1936. A statement was made on another thread, that a document does not prove the PLM was his, but photographic evidence would. Here you are. No the crown is not in the picture from '36, he did not get it until '67. I am done with this thread. Oh ye of little faith.... Dan Murphy
