    1. Rick, the XXV long service was there. too. See picture. Maybe another family member. but...
    2. ...all things aside, is it possible to identify this one? (Meaning the bar in the picture) Come on guys, we all learn from history and move on.
    3. Chris, actually, when you list stuff on Ebay in sensitive areas, the itmes apear with a time buffer. She told me they tossed one out after 5 hours, th other times after 2-3 hours. Once cut the Emails were pooring in. Andreas
    4. Well, the seller said she tried 3 times to sell the group on Ebay, but was delisted even with covered swastikas. It is Ebay who is to blame, trying to enforce stupid policies.
    5. Some may have seen those single medals on German Ebay as a result of the German law prohibiting Ebay to allow the sale of III.Reich Items. I managed to get a picture of the original group. Now destroyed forever. the pieces were sold to different buyers. Very sad. It is the Venezuela bar.
    6. Bt the way, does anybody have a spare copy of: A. Mekhonoshin, "Breast Badges of the Highest Offices of Government, 1917-1991"
    7. Not really, but speculative maybe because it such a direct and immediate impact, rather then being theoretical.
    8. The St. George Cross is of Prussian manufacture.
    9. The good and bad news is that I got it from one of my folks that take care of complete estates. They never seem to know names when it comes to medals. I guess they are afraid one would snoop behind there backs.
    10. Lets not forget the details of the Iron Cross:
    11. Just got this in the mail:
    12. Let me add to this thread, that I was consulted on this particular item many times before and after the action. After being a scary thought considering the price this piece was sold for. I can only say - as usual - think first, buy afterwards.
    13. ...just run across this interesting contemporary article published in the New York Times: Red Eagle Order published in the NYT link will lead you to the *.pdf version of it.
    14. All orders awarded after 1916 were suposed to be made from gilt silver. Red Eagle 3rd class, Crown order 3rd class and everybody knows of course of the Hohenzollern in silver gilt. the Crown Orders and Red Eagle Orders are of course a lot more scares. They will be marked, like the Hohenzollern knight with the silver content mark "938".
    15. I do believe the crown order is a silver gilt one, hence awarded after 1916.
    16. I guess I am getting serious about this. Just arrived:
    17. Paul, I am truly amazed about the possibilities of research these days. When I started collecting nobody ever thought identifieing those groups. Well done Andreas
    18. ?imagine the embarrassment portraying for 26 years the wrong guy on official order decorations!
    19. My goodness, this was possibly the fastest ever. Thousand thanks from Virginia! Andreas
    20. Do you guys think that this one is a candidate to be identified? It is the "Treuen Kriegern" Cross for 1866
    21. Absolutely agree, those swords are not from a authorized manufacturer. Yet, the piece looks old and was for sure purchased in time. Maybe for a medal bar.
