Soviet What medals should I use?
Riley1965 replied to Riley1965's topic in USSR: Soviet: Other Militaria
Ed, I took your advice. The uniform now has an OPW2, ORS and a Guards Badge. Over the left pocket I found holes for three single medals. So how about a couple of campaign medals and a Combat Service Medal? I forgot to check the buttons. I need to do that before selecting the campaign medals. Everyone, Thanks for your help!!! Doc -

Ed, I'll pull it down tomorrow and break out my hand held microscope that plugs into the TV and do some Forensics over the left pocket. Rick, The uniform has five large buttons down the front, a high collar with hook and eye closure, red piping around the collar and on the sleeves plus the square shoulders and narrow "appointed" boards. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. Doc -

Soviet What medals should I use?

It has holes for three orders. So, I've put my replica T1/V3 Nevsky and two ORS there. I was wanting to put a couple of medals on the other side to balance things out. Something simple. Doc -
I have an M1940 (Square shoulders/red piping) Uniform of a Major of the Medical service. What medals do you think I should use without over doing it? Doc

I know that I've seen this badge before. However, I can't remember what it's called. I would appreciate a translation of the text on the badge. THANKS Stewart!!! Doc -
This is an excellent replica of the Order of Alexander Nevsky, Type 1/Variation 3. Established 29 July 1942. Awarded to division, brigade, regiment, battalion, company, and platoon commanders for personal and skillful command of their units in action. Small suspension. Suspension measures 20mm high and 29.5mm wide. Soldered ring on top of star-point. Hole on reverse measures 21mm. Some specimens have been observed with the ring made as part of the order instead of soldered. 3-rivets. Without stick-pin. Thanks Stewart!!! Now my M1940 Medical service Major's Tunic will now have a Type 1 Nevsky. Doc
