    1. Hi john, Just magnificent , and you have one wher ethe catch is still present. That is the true week point on these BSW badges. You will find the majority with the catch broken of (due to wear, etc .. etc .. ) but this just has it all !!! Congrats once again,
    2. Hello, Since we have not seen a Lw. Cholmschield => here is one from the collection. Common guys, do not let this thread die as it is a wonderfull collecting field Cordial greetings,
    3. Hi John, And here is a close up from a rivet as found on mine Cordial greetings,
    4. Hi John, Congratulations on that one => excellent one , you will certainly have much fun on that one for sure !!!!!!! And here is a sister of your new badge Cordial greetings,
    5. Hi Rick, Seems that you have a very fun job with that list In a recent BDOS magazine there was a article on these award iff i remember correctly, i was not aware that there was made a distinction between "noble" people and normal ones. Very strange but seems to have been such a time then Cordial greetings
    6. Hi Chris, very nice catch, is it possible e to give some more info on the Belgian agent 'Britisch' medal? Im very interested in that one Cordial greetings,
    7. Hello, This is indeed very sad news, my prayers towards his family in the comming hard moments. Thank Tony for what you learned us. Cordial greetings,
    8. Hello Heiko, probably not much of a help but the third reich award is the red cross medal is the the so called "DRK-Ehrenzeichen" 3 th model. This one was awraded between 1937 and 1939. It ranked the lowest in the DRK awards from the above mentioned period, no numbers off awarding known towards me etc ... however a very beautifull award it seems. Are there any maker marks to be found on it? Cordial greetings,
    9. Hello, I do fully concur with what Jos said. In my beginng stag of collecting a older collector told me about German stuff "never say never", he was aiming on both : variations and the having of certain pieces in the collection. It does not mean offcoarse that one has to believe everthing that is offered and is not stadard is good also but when you study a limited field of interest you become aware that variations that are sometimes not regulations are in existence and sometimes on a larger scale then tought. Lets think in that on the glider pilot collecting, this is a very specialized field but i can already name one exception that was (and still is) often siad to be fake, etc ... etc ... => the large eagle variant of the glider pilots badge. period wartime pictures do proove 100 % the existence of the existence and badges have already surfaced from former wearers, etc ... but still they remain unknown and the thruth about them even more. Anyway this subject was about cloth badges etc ... => during my research for my book (stil going on by the way) there are more raritys then expected and more rules broken then ever dreamed off. So my advice towards all collectors is : keep your eyes open and try to vieuw as much as possible period photographs in a certain area. So my advice is : Be curious but remain aware. Place as much questions as possible but think about the subject and learn. Do also not go over a one night of ice and iff you go over to spread a theory be ready to proove it or do not spread the theory. (we already have enough of such theorys who will always remain that) Then you will find real treasures !!! Cordial greetings + lets show some more
    10. Hello, Thank you for the additional images and pictures, this thread has been proven succesfull so far IMHO. Now it is looking for clear evidence of such tan coloured cloth badges in wear => i just love the chalenge Cordial greetings,
    11. Hello Prosper, Sure, here it is. I do follow your caution and in the meantime i think we will have to do it with this picture untill new evidence pops up. Cordial greetings,
    12. Hello, And here is the close up from the picture of a glider pilot whil in tunesia (end of 1942). The picture is of a rather bad quality. On his tunic we can recognize a cloth glider piltos badge wich is in my humble opinion also on tropical cloth. The colourdifference would be much larger when it would be a normal blue-grey coloured cloth badge. Cordial greetings
    13. Hello, Thank you for the additional pictures. @ Warlord: 1) the blue one is as said before perfect and my badge is also the padded version. (first badge pictured) 2) i have absolutely no problem with the tropical cloth badge very nice one. I have one picture of a glider friend while active in Tunesia (Lw. Feld. Rgt. Barenthin), one can see the tropical cloth badge in wear (altough not very well) => will see iff i can find the pictures 3) your other shown badge is a typical BSW badge, cracks in the wreath, seems like a typical eagle, etc ... (pictures are not the best but more close ups will confirm iff it is a marked or unmarked type) @ Prosper: yes indeed, those are well known pieces towards me and perfectly legit (very nice worn unmarked BSW badge) , where did they come from again ??? Cordial greetings,
    14. Hello, Thank you for posting these badges Warlord. Iff i am not mistaking the tan coloured badge is the one that also do shows up in the A.Forman books. ? Could you also show the reverses of both badges? I do loke what i see so far and would love to see more. The normal coloured badge looks 100 % genuine according to me. Is it a flat version? (i do mean not padded). s, Cordial greetings
    15. Hello, Thank you John, i did find it already. The sad thing is that sooner or later a ubnknowing person wil jump on it => oh wel, then they have not done their homework and did not reed this thread You wil have the appropriate time to subscribe for a copy of the book, once it is announced that it is available person will be able to subscribe Iff you have questions about certain gldier badges feel free to contact me, as i am always prepared to help you out with my opinion. Any persons who have a cloth glider pilots badge hidden in that collection? Iff so feel free to post it as my birdy is getting lonely and wonder where all his brothers and sister went too Cordial greetings,
    16. Hello Gordon, Very nice award document, and a rare one in that too. And the fun thing about these are that they are so often confused with the " Anerkennungsurkunde" second type. Thanks for sharing that one Cordial greetings,
    17. Hello, And the reverse of this nice unmarked Buntmetal clasp Cordial greetz,
    18. Hello, Here is a small contribution from my side, a nice bronze bomber clasp => with award case (shown a few pictures later) Cordial greetz,
    19. Hello, And here we have a very same vieuw, this time from the side Cordial greetings,
    20. Hello, And here is a vieuw (rather dangerous looking with the machine guns) of a DFS 230 when freshly landed. Note that it is not a action picture but a training one. However it is very nice Cordial greetings,
    21. Hello, @ John : could you tel us for howmuch that cloth badge was offered? And offcoarse where?, as i am interested to see where these do turn up. About that shown badge, i do not like it from the shown pictures, the eagle is atypical for Junckers production (it is rather a BSW eagle), the reverse also do show some things i do not like and i think that it is a 57 model eagle used on a swas. wreath. This is not the first one i do see like this but it is a rather dangerous one it seems. Better pictures from both the wreath (obverse) and eagle can bring clarity in this. But as said it is not one i would take into my collection. @ Paul : take your time, a good one will pass by. Feel free to ask me iff you ever see one as i would be delighted to give advice. I am working on a book on this badge (would be published at teh end of 2006), then the 100 % accepted originals will be known and you will have a reference. Cordial greetings,
    22. Gliders, Thank you both for the reply, IMHO you do not have to know anything => being interested is just more then enough, that way a person can learn The Sturzflug was used in different effective missions, with some glider pilots who have survived and otehrs who simply crashed into a building etc ... I have had the honour to taat mission was lk to several German glider pilots and they do confirm that such trainingw as already quite a adrenalin rush. The actual combat mission and diving towards the point of no return was a extreme feeling. I have knowledge of several training flights that did not end good, but due to the wartime needs of trained personel there was not thinking of stopping the training flights. Cordial greetings, ps: not a "Sturz" but a interesting picture non the less/ the inside of a DFS 230 glider. The pilot had to do it with this when diving into action
    23. Hello, And here we do see another DFS 230 after a succesfull "Sturzflug mit Bremsfallschirm", almost landing Cordial greetings + enjoy
