Nice set. At least you can track where he fought with the comprehensive Nahkampf list. I wonder if the NKS citation is signed by Heinz Groth (DKiG) who is listed as Rgt-Führer at that time. He is an unconfirmed winner of the RK with the Ordensträger listing the award as 09-05-1945. As stated on AHF.. 'proposal arrived at HPA on 13.04.1945 ; lacking the comments of OB HGr Süd and the note of handling by Major Domaschk ; HPA proposal Nr. 5088 prepared (21.04.1945), no further handling to recognize ; accepted by OdR in accordance with so-called “Dönitz-Erlass”'

There might be the odd ad-hoc typed up version out there but it would seem that GD only ever used that variant of citation. No matter if it was 1942 or 1944 I have not seen a different variant from GD.

Very well spotted. In 1938 there was an Oberst Arnold Altvater-Mackensen in command of SS-Junkerschule Bad Tölz and he did indeed command Inf.Rgt 211 from October 1939 to October 1940. Apologies for casting doubts.
