Is the revese just like this one in the book? Rusty. -
Mongolia Mongolian Partisan Badge
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
Ed, Although you may be correct to me the badge smells Russian. The enamel is what does it. It's too nice! I do think that the pin on the back is a replacement. Rusty. -
Mongolia Mongolian Partisan Badge
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
Rick, That early of a badge would have to be made in the Soviet Union and I would expect to see some mint mark. I'm not that big into intricacies of the Mongolian awards to be of any help. Rusty. -
Yugoslavia Yugoslavian Awards
HuliganRS replied to Ed_Haynes's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Ed, I like that! I'll need to remember that one!!! The information I'm compiling is for everyone. I don't plan to write a book so I'm not concerned with rights. It would be nice to be acknowledged but otherwise... Rusty. -
Yugoslavia Yugoslavian Awards

Ed, Regardless of what you think of that forum, it's still the best resource for Communist Block countries. Let's let what happened in the past stay there. Rusty. -
Soviet Yet another NKVD Badge
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
These have always been faked! To find one with perfect enamel and a document would set you back a nice chunk of cash. Rusty. -
Soviet Yet another NKVD Badge
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Maybe the signature was Red but with artificial aging it took on pink? Who knows... Rusty. -
Soviet Yet another NKVD Badge
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I agree! The badge seems to be missing the S/N and it's not up to par. Especially the enamel. The book looks like it was made last nigh on artificially aged paper. Russians used cheap paper and almost everything in that book should look old and faded. The stamp is way to new looking. The beria signature is in pink? Ha? Rusty. -

Yugoslavia Yugoslavian Awards
HuliganRS replied to Ed_Haynes's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
Ed, It is the forum that you are thinking of. I'm not too concerned about the ownership since it's a group effort and I have had contributions from all over. I feel guilty claiming it as MY work. I can post what I have on the other forum. I'll make a seperate thread for it... Rusty. P.S. It's still work in progress... -

Gunner 1, Is it possible for you to scan that book? I'd love to see what they wrote since I'm building a database of types and variations on another forum. Thanks! Rusty. -

Mongolia New additions to my Mongolian collection
HuliganRS replied to Bob's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
Rick, I believe he does no reserve auctions and the market determines the price. He's a very good seller and can get you anything for the right price. My friend deals with him on a regular basis and most (99%) of his Mongolian items are direct dealings with him. I myself have bought a few pieces for my collection from him. Rusty. -
Mongolia New additions to my Mongolian collection
HuliganRS replied to Bob's topic in People's Republic Mongolia
If you are reffering to the same guy (Pumbark?) I'm thinking of then he's not selling that much of the mint dumped pieces. He actually drives his truck all over Mongolia's little vilages and buys this stuff right from the veteran or their family. Rusty. -

haynau, S/N's below 1,000 tend to bring a better premium. Your's is still nice. I believe they go into 5 digit range. Rusty. -

haynau, Your's is the more common type with a S/N on reverse. Lower S/N's tend to cost more otherwise your's is fine! Rusty. -

Soviet NKVD Honored Member Badge questions
HuliganRS replied to Stogieman's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I'm really surprised this guy hasn't hit a newbie yet! I've seen a OGPW2 from 1985 sell for over $100! I'd take about 50 customers and sell them my stash! ...there's a sucker born every minute! Sad but true. -
Notice the small MM on the bottom of the revese and look at the typical late production Russian loop. Rusty.

That is the real deal medal. That pic was taken from the official Russian Federation web site. There has been fewer of these issued and only a handfull of collectors have them outside of Russia. Here's mine: Rusty.

Ed, That's a downpayment on a small house you got there! Rusty. -
I would check if it sounds like a silver dollar when you flip it. These are widely faked now across the pond. Rusty.
