    1. No I don't have that journal. What was the title of the book on the Great War forum please? Thanks
    2. I should have thought about it when I ordered the complete Police file from Kew last year. I've got the police investigation into the murder PLUS I have the Canadian military court of inquiry records as well PLUS the military records of those charged with the manslaughter of Green. One last thing, I also have a statement confessing to the murder, 10 years later by a Canadian soldier. I forgot about Station Sgt Green's records...
    3. In checking with the book Badges and Medals of the Russian Fleet 1945-2004 Part 2, the badge pictured in post 9 on the right is on page 113 and the one on the left is on page 130. I will try to translate what the badges were for, but, they may be legit badges.
    4. Nice find indeed. Would this badge have been awarded as a MVD award?
    5. This is the event surrounding the awarding of an Order of Glory 2nd Class I had researched last year and translated. Here is the citation as appearing on the citation: While in the 132nd Rifle Division on the night of 31.10.44, he cleared a lane under heavy enemy fire in an enemy mine field and wire obstacles. A grenade was thrown in a section of wire, but due to the persistence of Private Abulev, the breach was maintained. He is deserving of the Order of Glory II Class. He was awarded the Order of Glory 2nd Class the following month. I am missing his Order of Glory 3rd class.
    6. Wow, nice collections all of you. What books are you guys using?
    7. Gerd Check on bookfinder and you will see it. If it is the right collection, it is in Russian and worth quite a bit of money.
    8. Looks like a book worth having. Can't find it on the web though, so I'll have to keep my eyes open for one. With the few groups I had researched, this book would come in very handy.
    9. The "wings" are MVD proficiency badges, and they come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd class.
    10. Since the Orders and Medals I am missing from my collection are too expensive, I have branched off into the badges. My badges collection is starting to accumulate pretty nicely. I have a few WW2 Otlichnik badges, MVD and others. Over the last months, I purchased no less than 12 books on badges, so if you need a badge ID, just let me know and I'll look it up. Any other badge collectors??
    11. Here is the document scanned with excessive darkness. It did bring out some of the handwriting and even brought out the stamp over the photograph. If anybody has good eyes, please feel free to advise me the name of my recipient. Thanks
    12. I'm not certain but I think it is a combat service medal. I'll try to get it for sure by scanning it very dark and playing with Photoshop. The badge besides the medal is a GTO hanging badge.
    13. Here is my document I picked up last week. The writing is quite fadded though.
    14. I also made it here Guys (dannybou). If I can add to Rusty's post, the third type was issued to foreigners and about 5000 were issued which makes it very rare (R4).
    15. I also own a T3 Nevski which I bought about 10 months ago. I've had it authenticated and researched. This is the highest Order I will own for the obvious reason that the other Orders are way out of my league. Too bad I didn't start collecting when I was on mission in the Balkans 5 years ago. Oh well hindsight is....
    16. Hello I am new to the forum and am starting to see I have missed quite a bit. In any event, I am researching the murder of Station Sgt Thomas Green warrant 80417. He was murdered in rioting by Canadian soldiers in June of 1919. I was wondering if there is a place, other than at Kew, to obtain his service record, or at least an outline of his career. I have a few photos of him and I can see he was awarded with some medals. Anyway to find out what medals they were? Thanks
