Hello! I have this Militärpaß (changed into Reichswehr-Paß) of a Jäger from Hannover. He served in different units, and fought in Rumania, France, Tyrol, Belgium, Italy and Serbia. There is an intersting entry from 1920 too! "Vom 14.3.-10.5.20 Unterdrückung der Unruhen im rheinisch-westfälischen Industriegebiet" (Oppression of the commotions in the industrial area of Rhineland-Westfalia)

Hello Tom! That´s an intersting card. Could you please show the entire reverse and a larger scan of the photo because of the uniform details? What about the stamp? Is it 1915 or 1916? It´s hard to read. I agree with the Bataillon Rohr, because there are several postcards known, which the same sender-unit ("5.Poinier-Kompanie, Sturm-Bataillon im Westen") Im april the bataillon Rohr consisted of (I use the german terms) 4 Sturm-Kompanien 1 MG-Kompanie 1 Minenwerfer-Kompanie 1 Flammenwerfer-Abteilung 1 Batterie 10,5cm Haubitzen 1 Pionier-Kompanie But because the Bataillon Rohr called themeselves a Pionier-Sturm-Bataillon, those companies were called "Pionier-Kompanien" Glad to say, I couldn´t find a name "Zarges" in the list of casualties of the 5th companie

Yes, I think so. I don´t believe there were enlisted men angaged in battles. Probably officers as observers. Some of the turkish officers wear the Iron Cross II

Hello! Does someone know, to which german units turkish troops were commanded? The photo is written with: Deutsche und türkische Offiziere, Flandern, 1916

Hello! A friend of mine (who doesn´t speak english), asked me to open this thread here. He stays in contact with the family "von Lützow", and the family looks for all informations of the military career of each Freiherr v. Lützow. That could be photographs, documents and so on and so on. Photocopies or scans would be brilliant too. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Hello! I´ve got two questions about that man. 1) Which order does he wear? 2) Does someone know him? Reverse unwritten, but stamped from an Atelier from Münster/Westfalen. We have: Litzen on white base = Infantery Verwundetenabzeichen = photo taken after spring 1918 Rank: Oberstleutnant Thanks a lot in advance, Andy

Hello Steve! Unfortunately I don´t have any items, but I´ve found a nice map of the 1 july. The Newfoundlanders were not mentioned in that map, because they attacked later as a reserve. The map is from the german General Staff recordings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaumont-Hamel_Newfoundland_Memorial http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/memorials/overseas/first-world-war/france/beaumonthamel http://www.historicplaces.ca/en/pages/beaumonthamel.aspx http://www.greatwar.co.uk/somme/memorial-newfoundland-park.htm http://www.heritage.nf.ca/first-world-war/articles/beaumont-hamel-en.php http://www.therooms.ca/regiment/part2_the_battle_of_the_somme_part1.asp
