    1. Nice overview - still missing the "ugly" latest version.
    2. Duplication here but hopefully this provides a better scan
    3. Nice set here - two labor's awarded to the same person - useful also for getting some dates for our researchers:) Notice the Uighur one - person applied some solder to fix a broken suspension - gives it more character
    4. Occasionally I've seen some HSL stories which are easy to understand why it's valued so exceptionally in USSR: researching nuclear weapons for instance. But what I then don't get is all the HSLs (e.g. on one of the dealer websites with 2 Order of Lenins attached to it) for "mere" farming. Must be a one hellofa HUGE farm...
    5. Sure - any ones in particular?
    6. The high-end boxed / documented stuff is cool of course but it's the little unexpected gems which give a lot of satisfaction. I still haven't figured out why there's (fairly unique) a mint mark on the ring of one of my Mongolian mining medals (well, offically: badge). On a different note... if anybody can produce a list of Mongolians who have received a high end Soviet award then that would be very much appreciated.
    7. Thanks guys. Will post details once the deal is completed... otherwise I might get all excited full of anticipation only to be let down if the deal falls through Next to the HSU and Lenin there is also an order patriotic war 2nd class awarded on 24th march 1945 in his booklet. The booklet is an official duplikat from '72. Anyway, I'm rambling on. Nothing to be found on www.warheroes.ru about this guy so it will be interesting what research will dig up.
    8. Here's the overview. Hidden in between the 11 Polar Stars are 4 different Uighur scrip variations.
    9. Never get a chance to make a first impression right? Well, this is how I "display" my awards: in an old shoebox! Still looking for a nice antique entimologists (spelling ok?) cabinet - the kind with many drawers with a glass top on each of them to showcase butterflies, spiders, etc. Anyway... will follow with some better pics that do give an overview of (part of) the collection. Main focus when I started was on Soviet medals. This focus has shifted to exclusively Mongolian and - finding it increasingly difficult to fill the gaps in that collection - moving back to Soviet in the future with a particular interest in HSU, HSL, Mother Heroine and state prizes. I'm also very keen on finding Soviet awards given to Mongolians or vice versa. Have 2 such sets in my collection, both groups of awards given to a Mongolian: - bottom left hand corner: Soviet victory over Japan medal + two Mongolian 50 year medals - bottom right: group containing one Soviet border guard medal Enjoy!
    10. Hope to be acquiring an HSU with Lenin and some documentation very shortly. Now, what is the best way to have research conducted?
    11. Mmm the relatively small amount of "complete" mother sets (all medals / orders) then surprises me given that 500K of those Orders of Mother Heroine were handed out.
    12. Would a person having this order by default have been awarded a 1st, 2nd and 3rd class of Order of the Glory of Motherhood and / or 1st/2nd class of Motherhood Medals first?
    13. ORDER OF THE RED BANNER OF MILITARY VALOUR (Baildaani gav'yaany ulaan tugiin odon) (Орден Боевого Красного Знамени) (1945--) (A 23.1?/M 7.1.1) -- 1st award: Type 1.1 (Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost); Low = 50/High = 2789 Type 1.2 (as above, but with Cyrillic ?B? mintmartk); Low = ??/High = 1901 (A 24.1/M 7.2) -- Type 2.1 (Pinback 3 rivets; SN at 12 o'clock); Low = 3160/High = 4449 (A 24.1/M 7.2) -- Type 2.2 (Pinback 2 rivets; SN at 5 o'clock); Low = 4685/High = 5380 (A 24.2) -- Type 4 (pinback, bronze); Low = 5512/High = 5607 (A 23.2/M 7.1.2) -- 2nd award: Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost; Low = 12 /High = 398 (A 23.3/M 71.3) -- 3rd award: Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost; Low = 6/High = 200 (A 23.4/M 7.1.4) -- 4th award: Screwback; 3 rivets; SN just below screwpost; Low = 10/ High = 86
    14. New high for Type 1: 3744 Soon I hope to also have the booklet which the seller forgot to send. Will hopefully provide useful date info. I really like this award. Nice and heavy.
    15. Nobody with a number in between 2214 and 2084? Also - surely must be somebody with a booklet to put some dates next to this medal? I own 31 and 2214 by the way.
    16. Saw some notes on the ring - got my magnifying glass out... in cyrillic script "PMD" - Leningrad Mint?
    17. Found out that this booklet apparently belongs to a a D05.
    18. Here some pics I already received. Will make more extensive scans when the item is in my hands.
