    1. Great duo of SB's in the new york sale catalogue: nr 800 screwback nr 801 pinback
    2. Found another one like this in my collection. I have the impression all these screwplates have in common that there's a "solder" like blob around the center... almost as if the screw plate needed to be rethreaded for the polar star and adding this extra metal on top enabled it?
    3. I THINK I recognize his name in my book! And it would confirm nr 4 as well... more digging later!
    4. And finally, what appears to be the beginning of page after page of ukaz with names and numbers (of the badge???) Keeping my fingers crossed to validate with some Partisan documents in this thread. This could be a treasure trove of information potentialy tied to individual (if numbered) badges !!!
    5. Another example... notice also the partisan badge in the pic
    6. Example of a first page of a bio Will scan this thread next weekend to see if i can place names to bios in the book
    7. Praise the people who documented/archived things in Mongolia the past decades! Attached scan of an 800 page book with bios on the 1921 Partisans. There are two more parts to this series of 3 books with Partisan bios, am awaiting to get the other two parts as well. 700 pages of bios, roughly 5 page bio per partisan = 140 per book = 420 in total - not far off past estimates
    8. Ignore the labour medal (top) and the firemans badge (bottom) as they do not belong to the group but just got mixed up in it on my desk
    9. Here's a booklet on the Mongolian chekists... with a 4 page bio on Oidov. Also to note, bios on 25 or so other chekists as well... so time to check that thread and see if I can help anybody!
    10. First, make up of the group and who is Colonel Burentugs Oidov? Then some pics. Unfortunately, the group is not complete but still very impressive and interesting: 1. Order of Sukhbaatar booklet (group came without the order, please give a shout if you have nr 1.174) 2. Order of the Polar Star, 1945 type but with serial number <500 (booklet comes with a pic of the Colonel) 3. Honorary Medal of Combat, SN 2944. However the Sn is not entered in the booklet for the Order of the Polar Star and no other booklet is included for it but i trust the source 4. Victory over Japan medal SN 40980 with a matching document 5. 25 Years to MPR Medal SN 13047 with a matching document 6. Medal of 40 Years of the People's Revolution SN 21490. No document 7. Medal of 50 Years of the People's Revolution with a document 8. Medal of 50 Years to MPA with a document 9. Medal of 30th anniversary of Victory at river Khalkha with a document 10. Medal for Victory over Militarist Japan with a document 11. Medal of 60 Years to Armed Forces with a document 12. Medal for Victory over Japan, (USSR) with a document 13. Medal of the 30th anniversary of Victory in Patriotic War (USSR), War Veteran with a document 14. Document for Type 1 Badge of Excellent Border Guard, the badge is missing (anybody with nr 279 please reach out to me!) 15. Badge of the 60 Years to Mongolian Border Troops with a document 16. Badge of the Veteran of the Armed Forces with a document 17. Veteran of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party with a document 18. Badge of the 70 Years to Mongolian Police with a document. The badge is made of aluminum. 19. Badge of the 80 Years to Mongolian State Security with a document. 20. Badge of the Excellent Border Guard, 1st Class, (USSR) with a document 21. Badge of the glory of the Mongolian Elderly Association with a document 22. Badge of the 70 Years to Mongolian Border Guard Troops. Document is missing Unfortunately, the person who originally sold the group had split it: the group also should have come with an Honorary Chekist Badge with a document - both sold to Russians. At least i've received a scan of the document. Colonol Burentugs Oidov was a member of one of the few State Security combat groups deployed to Manchuria during the 1945 war against Japanese Kwantung Army. The group was primarily tasked to spot and eliminate Japanese spies, Mongolian and Russian traitors and bandits remaining on the liberated territory of Manchuria and Inner Mongolia.
    11. Was just looking at the results of the san giorgio aste auction... not much appetite in the market for the rare soviet awards (although the red banner nr 6 did get sold) i guess there really is a recession after all
    12. It's a collaboration b y 3 auction houses, incl. http://www.russian-medals.net/ In past auctions, great stuff was included
    13. Any news on this? Where can the catalogue be downloaded?
    14. Finally got hold of this bi-colored 2nd class - so it really does exit
    15. Some additional data points: * Serial numbers >400 were awarded since 2000 * The Gold Soyombo Medal with a serial number 427 was awarded to General Tsede-Ish in 2006. He is the last entry in the blue sky bible (and this confirms that the number code at beginning of entry is NOT corresponding with the Soyombo serial nr!) * Also, I have a document to a Soyombo (posted somewhere here or on another site), it's awarded to Putsagiin Oyun, but the serial number (no surprise) has been altered and probably is more in the rage of 270-280... as the nr (424 if not mistaken) in the booklet could never have been awarded on the unaltered date of 1986 in the booklet - her profile then appears to be on page 101 of the blue sky bible (321.263)
    16. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36164&st=60&gopid=430127& Some more pics on Sodnomdarjaa. Also, on research, I am awaiting delivery of a series of books (3 books) with biographies of all of the (400 or so?) Mongolian partisans. Apparently book series similar to the Soviet books on heros of the soviet union and the other book on the caveliers of the order of glory. Slowly but surely
    17. Looking again at this pic, it seems that Sodnomdarjaa had an "old style" Mongolian red banner... and then years later, he has a "new style" one. Confirmation that (similar to Soviet practice) there was a "return/replace" policy for old style orders?
