    1. Interesting theory. I know that some cores are stamped rather than cast. The blued sheet metal core are a prime example of this. But I never considered that ALL or most all vaulted crosses being stamped instead of cast. It will be interesting to here what others will bring to this discussion.
    2. That is the first time I have seen the CD800 mark on the pin. Very interesting.
    3. I was thinking the same thing. It looks very TRish.
    4. WOW-you guys are killing me. All I seem to find are the common pieces. And even those are getting expensive. Great crosses. Congratulations.
    5. Vary nice collection. A good cross section of Eks.
    6. I agree. It looks to be a repair .
    7. That's a good one
    8. Richard, I wish I had your problem--TOO many EKs. JJ08, This is what the backside and parts of the sew-on style cross look like--
    9. Nice find Eric. This is a maker I am still looking for.
    10. I think Steve is right. I was always told that this particular style of cross was a 1920s-30s made piece.
    11. "You guys are Ek1 whores" I may be cheap but I'm not easy
    12. Textbook example. Great cross Micha. That is my favorite Iron cross.
    13. Hi Eric, Nice cross--Intereseting disc. I wonder if this were done by a jeweller on request of the original owner. It makes for a nice looking setup. I like it.
    14. That wasn't what I expected :D
    15. Very interesting thread. Deruelle, you have a great collection PLM pictures--well done.
    16. classic KAG pin---
    17. Here is mine-- The more common crown design and thin "W"
    18. I don't like the orange rust. Orange rust is active rust. not 190 year old rust. I would guess this to be a redone 1914 with forced aging.
    19. Here is a great thread from WAF identifing quite a few A7V in original photos. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...p;highlight=a7v
    20. "we" is a makers mark that we have seen before. To the best of my knowledge we still do not know who that is. BTW--nice cross.
    21. I have always thought these to be period repairs. However these to crosses appear to be identical. It would be interesting to find out how many more of these are out there.
    22. An old collector once told me as I was searching for one that "originals are so rare as to be almost non-existant" I have seen some posted that were made from period pieces but the big question is always--When were they put together?
    23. Can we see a close-up of the maker's mark ? The pin looks like that of a WE. I have seen a WE with the same pin but a different core. As we know many companies used multiple cores. ALSO-- I have a WE listed as a maker but not a NE. BTW, Great looking cross.
    24. Eric, That is a great looking setup. If you ever decide enough if enough, let me know. I would break open my piggy bank for that one.
