    1. That's quite a pair you have there Chris. My #15 is just a shorter version of your #14. I can agree they are a h3ll of a knife. But that #1 is just awesome.
    2. $200 No days, you pay that just to hold one at a show. Most VN era or earlier blades I have seen, cost more than what I paid for my car. Granted, my car is a POS but stil, I've seen them regularly go for more than $3000.
    3. Randall's are great knives and a vintage Randall #1 is on my list to find but my tiny budget does not alloy that kind of indulgences.
    4. Jerry and Chris, Thanks for the comments. I agree, these are pretty much useless today. They were designed to do only one thing and do it well. That is part of what appeals to me about them.
    5. Just arrived yesterday. A Wilkinson made 2nd pattern F-S knife with sheath. It's pretty well used and abused but it's a correct and the etchings are still readable.
    6. Very nice. It's been a couple years sense my last mini purchase. They seem to be getting harder to find and prices have gone crazy.........and don't even get my started on all the fakes
    7. I am always leary of engraved crosses, especially when it involves the name of a general or other high profile person, All that being said, I like this one. The engraving looks like other examples I have seen.
    8. Here is one that I've been following-------- http://www.ebay.com/itm/231289368904?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
    9. That's well over twice what I would expect to pay for one of those. Especially in that condition.
    10. Nice set of minis. I have never seen that many Halbmond minis in the same place, at the same time before. Well Done.
    11. Wow, Chris. that makes for one very rare variant. Congratulations. Could you tell me how heavy it is? I would think it would feel considerably heavier that a standard Ek. Thanks, Greg
    12. Great advice. But as someone who was born with the collecting gene, I would not listen to the advice of others. All these lessons had to be learned first hand--the hard way. I am older and maybe a bit wiser now. I only collect small things and "usually" only if I feel I can afford it but there are times when that little voice pops back in my head
    13. I agree with Don. The cross looks like a Schickle. IMO it's a known cross style with upgraded materials being used. If indeed it is actually made of silver.
    14. The 1870 cross posted by Alex in post #8 is a complete fake. It is sometimes called the pot hole fake or the Deschler fake as you can find many many examples of this style all over ebay with the Deschler mark on it as well as D&S, Muchen 9 and others.
    15. The "slant W" was the nickname given to this particular style of core because of the very noticeable slant to center of the "W".
    16. Hi Tony, Unfortunately both of your crosses are very generic. The first class uses the the "slant W" core which was used by several different makers and the frame does not have any of the more unique hardware ( pins, hinges catches ) that we associate with certain makers. The same holds true of the second class. A generic core used by many different makers. The only really unique feature of the entire set is the 925 stamp on the ring. That is something not often seen. Congrates.
