    1. I am pleased to hear that. Same goes for you, if you need some help with translation or anything else regarding Serbian/Yugoslav decorations don't hesitate to ask.
    2. Don't mention it. Of course - Serbian Latin alphabet: četvrtim (Cyrillic: четвртим).
    3. Greetings, The document is for the 4th class Order of Saint Sava.
    4. Don't mention it, too bad that the producer of the badge didn't put his name on it, that would be helpful. Anyway interesting badge, thanks for photos.
    5. Greetings Bill, Those are definitely Cyrillic letters D and S. First thing that comes to my mind is Democratic Party (Демократска странка). Although if it really is pin from pre-WW2 Democratic Party it would be more logical to see Yugoslav flag rather than Serbian.
    6. Close-ups. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2014/post-7937-0-76553800-1399892433.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2014/post-7937-0-92728300-1399892461.jpg
    7. Order with the same image of the saint as Obi's is currently being offered. The crown is also similar but slightly different. Apart from that there are many differences and the seller has written that it has 3 hallmarks on the ring: 900, G.A.S. and Austrian silver hallmark. On the other hand this can not be seen on the photos and the order is described as in extremely fine condition without enamel chipping which is obviously not the case. Any thoughts on this one? Perhaps hybrid? http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2014/post-7937-0-75586700-1399892372.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2014/post-7937-0-29330400-1399892394.jpg
    8. Don't mention it! If there's something else that we can maybe help you with don't hesitate to ask
    9. Greetings, Red stars are cap badges of the Yugoslav Militia (police) introduced in the '70s ('76. or '78. I am not sure). Like Rogi noticed the main difference between them and the ones used by the Army is the color of the "rays". Small red star with the wings was worn by the members of the traffic police on collar tabs. I am not sure when were the badges with the driving wheel introduced but the Serbian Police still uses them today. Torches and and the small golden stars were used as rank insignia, I think I had some tables with them, I'll try to dig them up...
    10. You're welcome. His biography is not very detailed but there are some interesting information for example that he was on specialization in the French coastal artillery. I've read about Serbian Volunteer Corps on the Eastern Front but to be honest I didn't even know that there were units of the Serbian Army on the Western Front.
    11. The box could be for the Order of the Republic 1st class. I saw just couple of boxes for the Order of the War Banner and one of the differences between those and the boxes for the Order of the Republic is the color of the rope inside the box (around the black cloth and on the inner side of the lid - "around" the coat of arms) it's yellow vs. white.
    12. Very nice collection! Thanks for sharing it with us. People's Hero and Order of the People's Army with Laurel Wreath especially caught my eye! My congrats!
    13. Here's a photo from the book, if you wish I'll try to make better one tomorrow together with full biography.
    14. Greetings Thomas, I just checked the book "Knights of the Karađorđe Star with Swords" and found Ilija S. Žugić, artillery officer and later general born in 1888 in Užice, could that be your grandfather? He became captain 1st class in 1915, major in 1919... Brigade general in 1936 and divisional general (two stars) in 1940.
    15. Greetings, Even though I do not speak Russian (unfortunately) - I can read it: Я умираю, но не сдаюсь! Прощай, Родина "I shall die before I surrender! Farewell Homeland" is perhaps better translation.
    16. So China it is, I never bothered to check the sellers locations... But I think that the most important thing here is that they were sold as replicas not as the real deal, at least I didn't notice something like that. I just checked, we can still see 8 auctions, and in each of them they are described as replicas. I think that only 2 auctions are no longer available and that the same description was used with those 2 as well.
    17. I do not know where are those ebay Great Stars you mentioned coming from but under item location is written Germany. I was very surprised with some of the amounts, in couple of cases they were unreal. But to be fair seller wrote that they are "museum level replicas", one more reason to be astonished with the prices they achieved Some of those People's Heroes are unfortunately coming from ex-Yugoslavia countries as well.
    18. One more example that got sold today, I could be wrong but looks like this one is without hallmarks.
    19. For comparison: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/27258-radivoje-davidovi-kepa-hero-of-the-socialist-labor/
    20. As far as I know all of them were made out of precious metals, the main difference are the stones, on some pieces they are natural on other synthetic. Considering that this was one of the top orders and that only 114 of them were awarded (until 1986) I do not believe that there were tombak types. Like you both noticed some of the details are not as good as on other known examples which makes this particular order suspicious, without more images I would definitely pass it.
