    1. And here's the best shot I could get of the upper frame separation: Again no makers marks that I could make out.
    2. Okay, this one has some damage to the frame. Not sure what caused it as it's just like I got it. I used to pic up IC's whenever I could for $30 and less. Used to get quite a few for around the $7 to $15 range. Sorry to say those days are loooooong gone! Anyhow it looks as if it got yanked down when being worn at some point. But you can see the way it's damaged the ring area, top of the frame and how the upper parts of the frame have separated.
    3. Hi all, Can't believe I hadn't posted these yet. But did a search and couldn't find them so did up some scans and here they are. I used to have quite a few more but this is what I'm down to in Imp. 2nd's. This ones fairly normal and run of the mill. Can't find any marks on the ring, etc., although my eyes have proven to not be the greatest for some time. I keep missing marks and then discovering them when I do scans. But can't see any on this one.
    4. Hi all, Decided to do scans of my WWI IC 1st I'd started this thread with. In doing so I discovered a makers mark I'd not seen before. My eyes must be doing worse than I thought. Anyhow did the best scans I could so hoping perhaps this can be ID'd.
    5. Hi all, Great collections! Richie, especially love the last cap star you posted... beautiful!!!! Here's my humble contribution: And the original thread: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7389...hl=subway+medal I've always loved trains, subways and such and hope to add more from these areas to my collection at some point down the road. Thanks for sharing some awesome pieces! Dave, that uniform is fantastic!!!! Can't wait to see more on that display/grouping. Dan
    6. Hi all, I'm so happy that this thread has been of interest. I for one never knew about the award of the Guards Badge... although I did know about him being given the Kutuzov. Patton has always been one of my heroes and I'm always up for learning new info about him. Thanks so much to everyone who has participated so far. Sure hope we can learn a few more tidbits before all is said and done. Dan
    7. Hi all, I hadn't noticed before but know that I have I kind of wonder what he did for the Navy Distinguished Service Medal. Does anyone know? Dan
    8. Hi Ferdinand, This is what I found posted with the pic: Given by the Soviets after WW2 to a fellow Allied combat distinguished tank forces commander, US General George Patton, who actually wore his badge! Dan
    9. And I'm assuming they're in the Patton Museum. Does anyone know for sure? I've been close but never had the time to stop there on our various trips... one day though... Dan
    10. Hi Doc, Many thanks. I've read Ladislas Ferago's Patton and several other excellent bio's and seen quite a few as well... but don't remember reading anything specific about these awards or how he felt about them. Would love to know if anyone out there happens to have any info on this. Can't quite tell from the pic if he looks pleased or unhappy... perhaps kind of between the two extremes. But again, can't find another photo showing either or both of these awards. Tons of others... but not these. Dan
    11. Hi all, Found this shot on the web... no idea who to credit it to. But couldn't resist as it not only shows his Order of Kutuzov but also one I didn't previously know he'd gotten... a Soviet Guards Badge. I searched for about two hours last night and could not find another shot of him wearing these awards. Knowing how he felt about the Soviets I'd not be surprised if he promptly packed them away and never wore them or even looked at them again. You can see what I believe is the Order of Kutuzov just to the left of the Guards Badge. If anyone has additional pics of him wearing either or both of these please post as I'd love to see them. Thanks, Dan
    12. Hi Tony, Wow! That's a beauty!!!! I've always wanted one of the timer shells from the period but they all seem to pop up across the pond and the shipping ends up being too high. Our museum has one that is the one that made me fall in love with them. But never seen one done up like this. Great piece!!!! Thanks so much for sharing! Dan
    13. Hi all, Here's a few shots I found on Google:
    14. Hi Chuck, Many thanks for the translation. That's very interesting about the grad badge. Would love to see pics if not too much trouble. Was kinda hoping perhaps this was something a bit on the special side but guessing it's just another among many badges they put out. Well, still think it's a nice one. And anything Kim gets me is tops in my book. Guess I'll stay on the hunt and perhaps something else will pop up down the road. So many things I'm shooting for once my warchest is built back up... just a matter of which ones turn up first at the right price. Thanks again, Dan
    15. Hi Vic, Wow... between you and Etienne you have stunning collections! Very colorful! Nice thing is they take up so little room unlike alot of the things we collection. Keep up the great work!!!! Dan
    16. Hi Vic, Oh my friend, how I envy you the Verdienst medal with urkunde! Beautiful group to the same individual. I hope to someday get the Verdienst (perhaps all) with urkunden and would really love some of the earlier ones with silver content mark and serial number. Just gorgeous!!!! Great job... keep up the great work and you'll have a huge DDR collection in no time. Dan
    17. Hi Vic, Soooooo pleased these arrived safe and sound. Boy, that guy sure has a bit of a Buddy Holly thing going there doesn't he? As before, I think this is a real find complete with the dog tags. Dan
    18. Hi Gaffken, Many thanks for the info. I'll jot this down and keep it with the docs. Have a great one! Dan
    19. Hi all, I'd thought I'd posted these but couldn't find them when I looked. I believe they're Umalatova's. Got them from Vic quite a while back (Thanks again my friend!!!! ) and when looking at them recently I realized I didn't have a translation... well, most importantly who they were issued to so thought I'd pop them up in the hope someone could tell me.
    20. Hi all, Better late than never as they say. Many apologies for the delay. Ended up not feeling all that great yesterday after I'd posted the above. But got down just a bit ago and did some scans so without further ado: Missing the main top piece but looks like if I could find one it would screw right on and be ready for use. Wish I had more to share but I'm always on the lookout. Dan
