    1. Hi Danny, Yes, I finally got it... took a while but it's here safe and sound. Would love to be able to do just that but I've no idea how to go about it or how much it costs, etc. Any advise, instructions, etc., would be deeply appreciated. Oh, out of curiosity do such records generally have a photo of the original recipient or is it just information? Many thanks! Dan
    2. Hi George, Many thanks... that's just what I needed. This is now my first original (or copy even) of anything Imperial Russian!!!! Deeply appreciate the help! Dan
    3. Hi all, Hoping someone can give me a rough value on this one. Looks to be in rough shape but I think it's nice. But no idea what they are worth. Many thanks! Dan
    4. My deepest thanks to everyone for all their help on this one! One quick question... what is the actual name of this one? I hate to continue calling it the Machine Gun badge/patch. Is it perhaps the WWI German Heavy Machine Gunners Badge? Or is it the WWI German Army Expert Machine Gunners Badge? I've seen it on the web as both. Dan
    5. Well, it's finally official and should be in my hands by early this coming week. I'm so glad the original buyer decided to send it back as it was not a WWI... although how he could have not known this by the pictures is beyond me! But his loss is my gain and I'm thrilled to add this one to my collection. I've also got another new piece (actually a set) to show but will have to post it later this evening. But it's a beaut! Dan
    6. Hi all, I hope this is the place for this... if not please feel free to move it. I need to confirm if this is a good one and if at all possible I need at least a "rough" valuation (via PM is fine). This is a piece I've only seen in a few reference books and such and only from the front.
    7. Hi Rick, I take it that means a resounding "bad"? Will steer clear then. Mucho thanks! Dan
    8. Just ran across this one but wanted to check it out with the more learned members first. Any help/info deeply appreciated!!!!
    9. Again at the moment my brain would probably short out before I could come up with a good one. So whichever of you would like the honor of the next one it's fine by me. Let the games begin! Dan
    10. Jim, Christophe... many thanks! I myself had considered Christophe to be the winner as he did come up with the final part. And as it would probably take me a good while to come up with something nearly as good as Jim's question... I'd like to offer the honor of asking the next one to Christophe as I think he'll be able to come up with something good in my stead. And Christophe... if you don't have the time at the mo then if you're okay with it please let Jim have another go. I quite enjoyed this one and it's been awhile for me so this was definitely fun! Hope this is okay. Dan
    11. Hi Christophe, Many thanks my friend! Just lucky that my poor befuddled brain worked for once and I remembered the display type and was able to find it. And of course if Ed had not posted that pic... so many thanks to him! Just sorry I'm not able to read that much Russian as I suspected that was the name info at the bottom but didn't know for sure. Congrats on finishing it out!!!! Dan
    12. Well... my long ago ancestor Dr. John Watson learned a bit from his friend and colleague Sherlock Holmes and then passed it all down in the family. Basically... I felt I remembered this style of display with the glass, background, etc., being shown on one of the threads regarding Soviet museums. I did a search for museum in the Soviet section and sure enough: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9297&hl=museum Post #5 Pic reposted with the kind permission of Ed Haynes. Sadly the post does not say who the group belonged to and Ed did not know. So still digging and trying to figure out the rest. Dan
    13. Mongolian Order of Sukhe-Bator Order of the Combat Red Banner Poland Order of Polonia Restituta Soviet Order of Suvorov 1st Class (3) But I don't know the who part yet. Dan
    14. I'm thinking there's a Nevsky and a couple of OGPW's hiding down at the bottom. This is a great idea by the way... like our very own game show! Makes me want to buy a vowel or something! Dan
    15. Pics from the video... for those who might not be able to view it. Dan
    16. Hi all, Nice piece. Looks more like a badge though instead of a medal to be worn on a ribbon. But very nice!
    17. Hi all, I could use some opinions on this one: Many thanks! Dan
    18. Hi all, I've also placed this down in the post war German section but any info, comments, etc., would be deeply appreciated!
    19. This thread also repeated from the first one I posted. It can be removed. Thanks!
    20. Hey guys... many thanks to you both for you confirmation on this one. Deeply appreciate the help! Dan
