We wait Takc... ...at least I do ; Speaking for myself of course... This thread can improve. I feel certain that there are other members of this forum that can contribute greatly. But they seem to remain bashful; Again, Speaking for myself of course... I know not why... Prove me wrong, respected associates... ....................................................... Whilst this is so, here I show one of three examples from my collection of Merchant Fleet caps. This one sports the visor as per regulation of 1935, but is most likely of postwar make. I will show the other two within some days, as the images I attempted tonight did not expose properly, and I am outta daylight on this Thursday evening...

Especially THIS one. I just think that it has such a comfy and easy-going look... Similar to the ones that the "Фашистский Захватчик" U-Boat guys like G?nther Prien were photographed wearing...

A few examples from my collection of Naval caps. This first adorns a silver bullion "crab", that does not match it's brass chinstrap buttons... Why? I know not... However, it came to me like such in seemingly untouched condition.

It is very intersting; helmets and other artifacts have been found how close to "ДОТ" that is shown?

Soviet Navy Cap insignia - ID help?
RichieC replied to AJHaslett's topic in USSR: Soviet: Other Militaria
My "deleted post" Adam, was my attempt to add an Emoticon (as an attachment) I like to use that is not hosted here, as I thought your phrase "Yeah, I still don't trust anything from east of the Oder" was quite sentimental and brought a smile to my face. An old GI I used to know said something like it to me when I told him I was courting a Russian girl. Sheesh... -

Soviet Navy Cap insignia - ID help?

BTW, The silvery mercury in my outdoor Ridgewood & Bushwick Coal & Coal Gas ad thermometer reads a comfy -6F outside my kitchen window here in tropical Queens. The skunk that lives under my porch offered me five bucks to sleep in the vestibule tonight... -
Soviet Navy Cap insignia - ID help?

Rick, I have heard of that book that you mentioned about Soviet cockardes... Where on my Ed-free Earth can I get one whilst waiting for Denis Rodichev's? Can and would you scan the page that you have referenced to show this cockarde with the hammer & sickle atop the anchor? -
Pass through?

Stoo, Is there any wear or sweatstains in the blue lining in yours? Also, are there any shiny spots or wear-through of the tanning/blackening surface of the leather sweatband? Mike, What about that hole in the right ear area?
-
Mike, Very interesting. If you would kindly elaborate on the artificial distress I would be appreciative. The hole in the right ear area; is that a simulated moth hole? Also, what type of rust do we have on the steel components? Is it fresh enough to leave a reddish-brown stain on the fingers and leave some pitting in the steel? Also, where the steel meets the leather; is there any of that green "goop" that usually occurs where metal meets leather? Of course, last but not least; Does it have that distinct odor, that many of these fakes seem to have?

Sergey, I wish I knew for certain. There seems to not be any insignia (for example, tank, or artillery), so these men may be indeed be infantry. But who is to know (?), as I believe that many of the branches did not wear insignia on their field boards at times...

DEMBEL Naval buckle from Sevastopol. I had no idea what it was when I found it, but it was so well made that I could not resist.
-
Sergey, I admire what you did with that rifle. Я даю поздравления на вашем смысле сентиментализма...

Yes please, do elaborate, both of you (Stoo and Mike). I am in the market for one of these, and would like to see what I should be looking for... I passed on one last year at a big show, because I felt uncomfortable with it, and have not seen one for sale since...

... or so I assume them to be from what I have absorbed thus far from experience. I've aquired these badges here and there over the years, and as the numbers grow, I have become quite curious as I find them VERY attractive lately. I have searched the forum archives and even have bought the book shown in the second image. The four examples atop are of high quality and are numbered. However, the book I bought to identify them does not give up any information on any one of eight shown. Are there other publications out there (Russian, German, or English language will make no difference) for me to consult? Or, can one of my forum associates consult me on such; Description, years produced, and awarded? However, I still would like to have a hard copy reference. I appreciate any direction....

It may not be a fake Andreas... It is the type used by MVD in late 50s and early 60s. I have not seen any repros of these on the market for sale at any time in the past as this design is not the most highly sought after, and if original, would only bring in forty or fifty dollars in my opinion... The chinstrap buttons with the wing prongs are a correct attribute for caps from this period. Let us see what the others here may be inclined to think...

It seems very nice. Model of after 1955? I have never seen one for sale. -
