Hallo KDVR With regards the cross / medal, it is a commemorative piece, for service in a military veterans club, and not an official issue piece, depending on where, the veterans were located, (i.e. village, Dorf, Town etc..etc..) the state colours could be reflected in the ribbon colours. Is there anything to the rear?? Kevin in Deva

EK 1914 Any Ideas on this maker mark?
Kev in Deva replied to Kev in Deva's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Hallo Bill, thanks for posting such great pictures While the front looks very similar, on both yours and mine, on the rear of mine, the silver frame is not quite as close to F. W. and the middle oak leaf or the "3" in the "1813" date as on your version. Apart from that its a very good match. Kevin in Deva. -

Dear Lothringen, thank you for your reply, as a probationary member here, you may be unfamiliar with the purpose of this forum, it is for like-minded people to share information about their militaria interests and items, not every member is an "expert" in all military items they may possess, or be interested in obtaining, thats why they ask for help, thats why its very helpful if you can explain why you feel the item is a fake / copy / repro. Now, all I see in your last post are a couple of pictures, which have certain areas highlighted in RED, perhaps you would care to explain to us who have NO knowledge with regards German para helmets what this indicates. If you are not willing to share some of your knowledge, then what is the point of belonging to a Militaria Forum? thank you, Kevin in Deva

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Geronimo is seen kneeling with a rifle in a photo from the U.S. National Archives. A Springfield rifle owned by the famed Apache warrior Geronimo fetched $100,000 (48,500 pounds) during an auction of Wild West guns and weapons that brought in more than $1 million. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20071122/tod...-b7afd8f_1.html Lawman Wyatt Earp's double-barrelled shotgun garnered $65,500, while a sabre attributed to U.S. Army cavalry commander George Custer sold for $20,315 at the Bonhams & Butterfields auction on Tuesday. Some of the guns were offered by a private collector who spent a lifetime accumulating firearms once carried by some of the most famous and infamous figures in American history, said Paul Carella, director of the company's arms department. "Obviously, he was like many of us, just intrigued and enamoured of the old West," Carella said on Wednesday. At the 800-item auction, buyers also spent $4,183 for a 32-caliber pistol reportedly carried by frontier scout Calamity Jane at her death. "We achieved some very good prices," Carella said. "I knew those pieces would garner the interest they did, because there are so many people interested in these guys, these folklore legends."
