    1. Hallo Guys With the cross at an angle, I made out the top line to be: W ? f t l, I did enter Gm?nd with Umlauten in my google search and those were some of the hits I got back!! If it is W?rttemberg then the ribbon colours could be Yellow and Black. http://www.weller.to/rub/gmuend/gmuend.htm Kevin in Deva
    2. Having done a quick search on the net: http://www.gmund.de/ http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmund_am_Tegernsee. Seems its in Oberbayern, so it could be presumed that the ribbon would be Blue & White, the Bavarian State colours. Kevin in Deva
    3. Hallo KDVR With regards the cross / medal, it is a commemorative piece, for service in a military veterans club, and not an official issue piece, depending on where, the veterans were located, (i.e. village, Dorf, Town etc..etc..) the state colours could be reflected in the ribbon colours. Is there anything to the rear?? Kevin in Deva
    4. Hi saschaw, is this the cross you refer too??, I believe this type, (Class II shown here,) does not look like the one in the picture: picture borrowed from Militaria 123.com Kevin in Deva
    5. Hallo Douglas Jr. Can you post a shot of the front as well please?? Kevin in Deva
    6. Hallo Bill, thanks for posting such great pictures While the front looks very similar, on both yours and mine, on the rear of mine, the silver frame is not quite as close to F. W. and the middle oak leaf or the "3" in the "1813" date as on your version. Apart from that its a very good match. Kevin in Deva.
    7. Hallo Lilo Any chance you can scan or photo the Cross area rather than the whole page?? Might give a better idea what we are looking at! Many thanks, Kevin in Deva.
    8. The other ribbon is Romanian as well, but can you post a better picture, the blue with silver? edges makes me think of a Credible Service cross or medal, "Serviciu Credincios", 1906, the addition of a crown is throwing me off though!! Some examples with the ribbon. Kevin in Deva.
    9. The family in my collection: Ribbon size vary and sometimes there are maker variation on the kings head size. Designer marked "P. Telge" under the Kings bust. Kevin in Deva.
    10. And the rare one with the dates 1866 and 1906 and the word "MELE" stamped in. Believed to have been added after they were made from an incomplete die, rather than smelt them and start again the missing info was hammered in. Kevin in Deva.
    11. Rear. There are 3 variations of this medal the one above in gilt, with the date 1866 to the left and 1906 to the right were for award to the military. Kevin in Deva
    12. The one on the extreme edge is for this Romanian medal: Its for the 40th Jubilee for Romanian King Carol I. Kevin in Deva
    13. I will take some pictures of the cores in daylight tomorrow to see if it leads to any identification: Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Gentlemen many thanks for ALL, for your great replies, I have been trying to photograph the hallmark in natural day light to aid identification: Kevin in Deva
    15. Gentlemen the comment: is not directed at Xavier personally, but made with regards the fact that a simple "Its is a copy", made by anybody, really needs to be backed up, with some type of an explanation, as I have said we are NOT all experts here on all forms of militaria. Kevin in Deva
    16. Dear Lothringen, thank you for your reply, as a probationary member here, you may be unfamiliar with the purpose of this forum, it is for like-minded people to share information about their militaria interests and items, not every member is an "expert" in all military items they may possess, or be interested in obtaining, thats why they ask for help, thats why its very helpful if you can explain why you feel the item is a fake / copy / repro. Now, all I see in your last post are a couple of pictures, which have certain areas highlighted in RED, perhaps you would care to explain to us who have NO knowledge with regards German para helmets what this indicates. If you are not willing to share some of your knowledge, then what is the point of belonging to a Militaria Forum? thank you, Kevin in Deva
    17. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Geronimo is seen kneeling with a rifle in a photo from the U.S. National Archives. A Springfield rifle owned by the famed Apache warrior Geronimo fetched $100,000 (48,500 pounds) during an auction of Wild West guns and weapons that brought in more than $1 million. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/rtrs/20071122/tod...-b7afd8f_1.html Lawman Wyatt Earp's double-barrelled shotgun garnered $65,500, while a sabre attributed to U.S. Army cavalry commander George Custer sold for $20,315 at the Bonhams & Butterfields auction on Tuesday. Some of the guns were offered by a private collector who spent a lifetime accumulating firearms once carried by some of the most famous and infamous figures in American history, said Paul Carella, director of the company's arms department. "Obviously, he was like many of us, just intrigued and enamoured of the old West," Carella said on Wednesday. At the 800-item auction, buyers also spent $4,183 for a 32-caliber pistol reportedly carried by frontier scout Calamity Jane at her death. "We achieved some very good prices," Carella said. "I knew those pieces would garner the interest they did, because there are so many people interested in these guys, these folklore legends." 18. To whom it may concern, when making a sweeping statement such as "IT'S A COPY" please do feel free to point out why you state this, as knowledge shared, is important to save members from getting ripped off, thank you Kevin in Deva.
    19. Hallo Gents this one is driving me nuts to my eyes at times and depending on the angle it looks like two small fish Kevin in Deva.
    20. I suppose we are lucky its not bi-metal like the EURO!!! Kevin in Deva.
