    1. Hallo Gentlemen nice Bavarian King Ludwig Crosses, Mine is pictured in the Collectors showcase and I add the link here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7352&st=20 The large Cross has a reproduction ribbon , however the mini-cross is all original. I was lucky enough to obtain 3 of these minis Kevin in Deva
    2. Hallo Bear nice naval items, and a nice sub-badge a very similar UBoat badge up fpr grabs here: I presume Walter Schoet? was one of the main makers, and seems to leave distinctive grooves to the rear of his badges?? http://cgi.ebay.de/100-orig-Kaiserliches-U...1QQcmdZViewItem May I have your opinion please? Kevin in Deva
    3. Hallo Gentlemen Just spotted this medal bar on German ebay, any comments as I am not to familiar with some of the medals, I know the third one is Bulgarian though, in all it looks nice and colourful http://cgi.ebay.de/4-er-Ordensspange-von-C...1QQcmdZViewItem Kevin in Deva,
    4. Hallo Gentlemen, with regards the Auschwitz Cross, these pictures were posted on Ebay UK in 2004, to show the differences between the real and fake / Repro, alas the sellers name is no longer held by me in my notes, and I apologise for that. But clearly she posted these as a warning to be careful when buying these. As can be seen the repro is a poor comparison when side by side with the original, the repro ribbon ring is also bare of any decoration, unlike the original. Also the original red triangle is a deeper red then the fakes. As these tend to represent people who had little or no chance to fight back against the iii reich and therefore suffered far more than the normal combatants, it is reprehensable that they are being faked for easy money Big Jar of Wasps Cross looks to be an original piece Kevin in Deva. PS forgot to mention: BJW. Is this in the right catagory????
    5. Hall BJW, just to tip off people, the Auschwitz Cross has been faked as well as T.R. stuff, from what I saw on the web, the difference is in the style of the lettering to the rear. I will try to locate some pictures to show the difference, being buried on my hard-drive somewhere Kevin in Deva.

    10. Hallo Gentlmen, this jacket has been recovered from storage in my garage, hence the crumpled condition The shoulder boards have green piping, and the tabs are edged in green too, the braiding is silver bullion, please see attached pictures. Maker label is: F. Birch of Marburg. There is one shoulder badge on the left sleeve. Above the left breast pocket are thread loops for attaching ribbon bars / awards to. All the main buttons are with the jacket, however under on of the sholder boards a small plain button is missing. It has four pockets, and two inner pockets, and very deep "French Cuffs" I once was told a favorite place to keep a packet of ciggeretes. Hoping somebody / anybody tell me something about it? Larger pictures are available if anybody wants to see them but they will have to be sent by email due to posting restrictions. Kevin in Deva

    13. Hallo Wild Card I presume that 5th Bn would refer to a Fifth Battalion, but of what? a localy raised unit of Colonial troops somewhere in Egypt, Sudan or Africa? as for the No. 233, a service number in the above mentioned Colonial Corps or Colonial unit. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Dan Just saw your posts, nice Romanian items, Resch was a top maker for the Romanian Royal family too, with regards a case I will be attending a Collectors meeting in Brasov, central Romania on the 24th of June, 2006, I will ask around about a case for these items, while the collectors meetings are not specifically for militaria, decorations, medals and militaria items do turn up, the Brasov ones get good attendance from all over Romania. I go four to five times a years there, it entails setting out the night before at 22:30 and traveling by train, a 3 and a half hour wait in the small hours of the morning at the Brasov train station, thank god for coffee machines then a healty 35 minute walk to the Factory canteen where they hold the meetings, it opens at 07:30 in the morning till 14:30, a walk back to the train station then to wait for a 19:30 train back to Deva where I live, arriving at about midnight, in the summer its ok but the November and February meetings can entail facing blizzards and deep snow, but nothing is to much for the dedicated collector
    15. Hallo Pat, Maybe he worked as a Police helper - part time policeman?? Ricky we need your expert eagle eye over here, pleeeeasseee. I located this info on the net about Duisburg, near ESSEN: DUISBURG In World War II. A major logistical center in the Ruhr and location of chemical, steel and iron industries, Duisburg was a primary target of Allied bombers. Not only the industrial areas but also residential areas were attacked by Allied bombs. As an entry to the Ruhr, there were daily warnings of bombing raids in 1943. 1941: between 12/13 June British bombers drop a toal of 445 tonnes of bombs 1943: 577 British bombers destroy the old city on 12/13 May with 1599 tons of bombs: 96,000 people are made homeless. 1944: The city was badly damaged as a total of 2000 tons of bombs drop on 22 May; on October 14 this amount was doubled when 2018 Halifax, Lancaster and Mosquito bombers appeared over Duisburg as part of Operation Hurricane. Numerous similar attacks follow. 1945: The city has under artillery barrage from 3 April 1945. On 12 April 1945 military units of the U.S. 9th Army enter Duisburg. On May 8, 1945 the ADSEC Engineer Group A, led by Col. Helmer Swenholt, commanding officer of the 332nd Engineer General Service Regiment, constructed a railroad bridge between Duisburg and Rheinhausen across the Rhine River. This bridge was 2,815 feet (0.86 km) long, and constructed in six days, fifteen hours and twenty minutes, a record time. This Bridge was named the "Victory Bridge". A total of 299 bombing raids had almost completely destroyed the historic cityscape. 80% of all residential buildings had been destroyed or partly damaged. Almost the whole of the city had to be rebuilt, and most historic landmarks had been lost. The above might be a reason why kept moving bars and why he either lost his job or his life Kevin in Deva.
    16. Hallo Pat, depending on the size of Duisburg, perhaps he worked in a police-bar or club for the police? I am sure they liked to have tipple or two and not in surroundings with too many ears around to hear them discusing the details of the job . Any chance of a close up of the Police stamp?? Kevin in Deva.
    17. Hallo Pat I think Kellner means Barman?? and the stamps are from the Bars he worked in. Kevin in Deva.
    18. Hallo Wild-Card, any chance the last two are for a Prussian Military Service Cross from 1864-1918 or the Military Service Cross of 1916 -1918 in silver, mind you its just a guess and I am probably way off. Kevin in Deva.
    19. Hallo Ed and Tony, thanks for the information about these, I think the seller has no idea they are "reproductions" and his price is small 2.50 Euro each. I will wait and see if they sell or if he reduces the price if a no-sale and he relists, he does say they are made from aluminium. But they are a novel item. Kevin in Deva.
    20. Hallo Gentleman I have come across these pictures of British Mini medals, they are for sale here in Romania, but first I wanted to ask some advice. The medals have no hangers and are approx 20mm in size, what do you think official issue or from a collectors replica set?? Kevin in Deva
