This group is next in line for research. The group is to Vasiliy Baranov and I understand that the issue authorities of the later medal documents indicates counter intelligence assignments. If this is true, I hope it does not preclude research.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if his earlier SMERSh naval service "gets around" the barrier that his having gone on to become (!!!) a KGB Captain will be-- no research THERE. Those have GOT to be incredible Patriotic Wars.

Red Star is a 5 November 1954 long service Ukaz, which makes his MMM from 1951 a couple of years late-- typical of what I've found with KGB groups. maybe he had "demerits" or something.

My thanks for the comments and observations. This will go in on my next research order. I have hopes that at least the citations on his WW2 awards will show up and shed some light on his naval service.

Thanks to all for the comments. I just sent my research order in after being informed that he should be researchable - at least his pre KGB service should be. Now the long wait begins.
