    They are the civilian version of the Medaille des Blesses, a lot scarcer than the military version but the same ambigious status, ie. you can buy the medal and wear it at the end of your medal bar but the government does not provide one to you.

    Aside from the ribbon, the military one has a red star and the civilian one is white.

    I agree with Doc... I've got one of the military versions but this one really is nice. :love: I'll have to start keeping my eye out for one down the road.

    Ambiguous is right : both the military and civilian medals are unofficial ! The official award is a ribbon bar (in the particular colours denoting either the military or civilian type) with respectively a red or white enameled star on it.
