Paul L Murphy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Chris,They are the civilian version of the Medaille des Blesses, a lot scarcer than the military version but the same ambigious status, ie. you can buy the medal and wear it at the end of your medal bar but the government does not provide one to you.
Riley1965 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 What are the physical differences between the Military and Civilian medal? Doc
Guest Rick Research Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Aside from the ribbon, the military one has a red star and the civilian one is white.
Riley1965 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Rick,Thank You for the information!!! I have never seen this medal. Doc
Ed_Haynes Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Being civilian, they are usually carefully ignored.
Riley1965 Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Well, not ignored by everyone because it has caught my eye Doc
Hauptmann Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I agree with Doc... I've got one of the military versions but this one really is nice. I'll have to start keeping my eye out for one down the road.Dan
Hendrik Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 the civilian version of the Medaille des Blesses, a lot scarcer than the military version but the same ambigious status, ie. you can buy the medal and wear it at the end of your medal bar but the government does not provide one to you.Ambiguous is right : both the military and civilian medals are unofficial ! The official award is a ribbon bar (in the particular colours denoting either the military or civilian type) with respectively a red or white enameled star on it.Cheers,Hendrik
Christophe Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 It is interesting to notice this "unofficial" medal (in its military version) is now proposed for sale at the website of the "official" Monnaie de Paris : http://boutique.monnaiedeparis.fr/is-bin/I...mp;Boutique=B2CCh.
