In line with the Arty hat badges and maybe a Guards hat badge thread - hint hint - lets see what is out there for different wings and cap badges.

Thanks in advance for your contribution

To kick this off, here is the cap badge for the defunct "Canadian Airborne Regiment"

A set of Mess dress or what we call DEU (Distinct Enviorment Uniform) set of wings with a red maple leaf indicating para trained but not serving with a Para unit. These are a boughten item, usually thru the regimantal kit shop.

Same as above but issued, they would either give you a metal silver maple leaf or a pair of wings with a white maple leaf, when you were part of a para unit. Hopefully James M will see this thread and post his set.

I would have tried for some South African Pics... but I always loose sight as to when we were in the commanwealth... and when not...

I guess our Kiwis and Aussies dont have any airborne forces ;-)

By the way, if any of you who are doubtlessly Commonwealthier than I can tell me which branches/units/dress those wings all correspond to, I would appreciate it greatly. I only know a few.

Yup... indeed... its pretty nice for us to allow them to stay... ;-)

Is that comment coming from your out of date Canadian passport or your Boer heritage? :cheeky:

Seriously :off topic: , but I can't resist.

    To summarize some cultural divisions

    in the English-speaking world:

    1) Australians believe in looking out for your mates, Brits believe in

looking out for members of your club, Americans believe in looking out for

yourself, Canadians believe that's the government's job.

    2) Americans drink weak piss-tasting beer, Canadians drink strong

piss-tasting beer, Brits drink warm beer-flavored piss and the Aussies will

drink anything with alcohol in it.

    3) When travelling abroad, Canadians resent being mistaken for Americans,

Aussies resent being mistaken for Brits, Brits can't be mistaken for anyone

else and Americans prefer to be mistaken for Canadians.

Is there anyone I didn't offend? I can have another go, if need be.

    Chris,

Not a clue I'm afraid. Got them all given years ago and they been in the loft ever since. I was sure there was a set of N.Z.S.A.S. wings also, but can't seem to find them, as I recall them being different to ours.

Any suggestions from our Commonwealth chums?

    Graham.
