Gordon Williamson Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 A few sample pages on the Knight's Cross winners of the KVK from the forthcoming book. Currently at the layout stages so should hopefully appear later in the year.
Paul R Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Very interesting thread. Do you know anything about that private ranked Coastal Arty member with this medal?
Gordon Williamson Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Hi Paul.Yes, he is Walter Riese. He won his RK of the KVK in previous service in the Merchant Navy.
Bernhard H.Holst Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Hello Gordon.Thank you for the preview of your forthcoming reference book on the recipients of the K.C. to the War Merit Cross. By what I can see it promises to be a vast improvement over the 1970's and 1980's Patzwall products .Bernhard H. Holst
Paul R Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Thanks for the information, Gordon. I will have to get a copy. I have a great interest in this under appreciated medal.RegardsPaul
Gordon Williamson Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 Hello Gordon.Thank you for the preview of your forthcoming reference book on the recipients of the K.C. to the War Merit Cross. By what I can see it promises to be a vast improvement over the 1970's and 1980's Patzwall products .Bernhard H. HolstThanks Bernhard. The book is not just about the recipients of the KC. The first half of the book covers all of the KVK grades, the medals themselves, variants, the cases, packets, miniatures, award documents, etc etc, then the second half covers all the KC recipients.
Riley1965 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Gordon,I would like to buy a copy of your book when it's ready. The War Merit Cross is my favorite. Doc
Laurence Strong Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Am waiting...thanks for the teaseer
Gordon Williamson Posted March 2, 2007 Author Posted March 2, 2007 Some more samples. Very nearly completed now.
Gordon Williamson Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Latest update on this one. I have just received the final page proofs from Roger Bender. Things had been delayed because Roger lost one of his key staff when they retired and has been trying to catch up. Hopefully, with only a few minor typos to sort out, the book will be going to the printers shortly and might make it out for Xmas. Here are a few more sample pages (Total Page Count is 457)
webr55 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 That looks like a great and also very attractive book! I vaguely remember a story about someone who got the RKKVK for repairing a number of tanks in one night, so that they could be saved from advancing troops. Is that a real story, or have I got things confused?ThanksChris
Gordon Williamson Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Chris, No, you didn't get it confused, there were actually more than just one example of soldiers (both Heer and Waffen-SS) from Tank Recovery units winning the RK of the KVK, for recovering damaged tanks undere enemy fire etc.
