Chris Boonzaier Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi, I am guessing from the single mount that he got his star and wore it as a single medal... then probably never bothered to mount or wear anything he would have recieved later, (Bar, War Medal, Victory Medal).... and that is the reason the star is still mounted singly?
Tony Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Thank you very much Tony! Then I was completely wrong. Can we know on the MIC if he actually retrieved his clasp? Kind regards Bison Under the words Action Taken is handwritten clasp .......... 4/?/22 That was the date of issue for the clasp/bar. I thought the MIC would show the issue of clasp and roses. I can't find his MIC for the medal pair but after checking the SWB list again I saw something I missed before, he was discharged due to wounds.
Tony Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I've done a bit more searching and have found him on the 14 Star medal roll which mentions the issue of clasp and roses 2/11/22.
Jerry B Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I have two 1914 Mons Stars, one on its own, one still with his VM and also VM slit from a Mons star trio. I also have 11 14/15 stars. The Maddocks star has a very early entitlement having landed in France on the first day that British troops officially landed there, though some troops landed in the evening of the day before.
Tony Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 2 Stars isn't enough Jerry, you need more It's great to have such an early entry and I didn't know the first arrival date before now, thanks!Tony
peter monahan Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) Actually, Stars are like cats - the number you need is the number you currently own + 1! I'm sure there's a regulation about it somewhere. Thanks for the info. on the date as well! Edited July 18, 2015 by peter monahan
Brian Wolfe Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Yes, Peter there is a regulation and you have already quoted it, "the number you currently own + 1". RegardsBrian

Jerry B Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Indeed guys, I am after at least two more to be honest! I collect to the 3 main Welsh regiments, RWF, S.Wales Bords and the Welsh, and as I have one for the Bords, I am after one each for the RWF and the Welsh, though I doubt that will be enough! As regards early entries in France in 1914 two companies of 2/RWF (A&B) landed at Rouen, The Cameronians and 1st Middlesex landed at Le Havre and the 2nd Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders landed at Boulogne all on the 11th August 1914.
Jerry B Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I have one from my wish list on its way to me, 2/RWF landed France 13/08/14. Just need to get one for 2/Welsh, though I doubt I will stop there!
