Some days ago I got this two sweet ribbon bars.

On the smaller you could find :

    1.) Preussen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2.Klasse

    2.) Preussen, Dienstauszeichnungskreuz f?r 25 Jahre

    3.) L?beck, Haneseatenkreuz

4.) Oldenburg, Friedrich August Kreuz 2.Klasse mit Spange "Vor dem Feinde"

    5.) Bulgarien, Tapferkeitskreuz 2. Klasse

    6.) T?rkei, Medjidie-Orden

    7.) T?rkei, Eiserner Halbmond

the ribbon bar has on its reverse a needle system and a little tag reading: " Friedr. Sedlazek Berlin W8, Leipzigerstra?e 108"

On the big bar are :

    1.) Preussen, Eisernes Kreuz 1914 2.Klasse

    2.) L?beck, Haneseatenkreuz

3.) Oldenburg, Friedrich August Kreuz 2.Klasse mit Spange "Vor dem Feinde"

4.) Deutsches Reich, Frontk?mpferehrenkreuz mit Schwertern

    5.) Preussen, Dienstauszeichnungskreuz f?r 25 Jahre

    6.) ?sterreich, Kriegserinnerungsmedaille mit Schwertern

    7.) Bulgarien, Tapferkeitskreuz 2. Klasse

    8.) Ungarn, Kriegerinnerungsmedaille

    9.) Bulgarien, Kriegerinnerungsmedaille

    10.) T?rkei, Medjidie-Orden

    11.) T?rkei, Kriegs-Liyakat-Medaille

    12.) T?rkei, Eiserner Halbmond

The 2nd ribbon bar seems to be made from Shoelaces, but the backing looks like typical Godet-grey.

Do you think the ID is possible ?

    Hi Heiko,

I just wanted to let you know that I saw your first Badische medal bar in flesh personally at the auction and must say that it looked very very good!! One of the best mounted bar I have ever seen.

    Ciao,

    Claudio

Sorry for my "gaffe" Heiko! Maybe it's the heat (I am in India right now)... it's about 36 ?C at 2100... My brain is gone. By the way these ribbon bars are very nice indeed, typical combination and construction for a Kriegsmarine Angeh?riger!

    Ciao,

    Claudio

:Cat-Scratch: Now that is an EXTREMELY interesting "lace on and off" ribbon bar-- a type I have never seen before. THAT was one smart guy! No sewing it on and off, that way. Brilliant!

My first impression was that this was a NAVY ribbon bar, but a quick flip through of Crews 1897-1903 (the range for no 1897 Centenary Medal but got XXV in 1920 for double sea and war service) didn't turn anyone up. MIGHT be Reichsheer.

I'd say the reason there is no Medjidie on the smaller bar, and yet there is a long service (I am assuming this must be an XXV, so 1920+ not a pre-war LD2 or LD1) is because that was a COMMANDER grade Medjidie, worn at the neck-- often found in "Kleindekoration" wear on German ribbon bars. Majors and that equivalent got that grade-- and German officers in Turkish service were "bumped up" a grade-- so Captains could end up with that class of the Order.

    Absolutely terrific ribbon bars.

    Shoelace...
