Here is mine with a Soviet Inscription

Hehehe, Soviet inscriptions ... They still use these letter and they are not Soviet. ;)

Those are not rare. It's just that there is 2 versions of that medal. Latin or Cyrillic. Thanks for the better pictures than the one I have shown.

    Very interesting!

I also see some variations with the border of the medal and the wreaths.

It's good to learn on the subject every day! :)

    Bryan,

Cyrillic letters are native letters in Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro and parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina (republic's of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia).

In Yugoslavia Cyrillic and Latin letters were equal in public usage.

So, they are not Soviet inscriptions.

SasaYu, thanks for a better explanation than mine. I would never call Cyrillic letters Soviet inscriptions. I was just trying to explain "order of victory" that those letters are called Cyrillic.

I am sorry due to lack sleep I accidently called them a Soviet Inscription :banger: as I did not relise the Cyrillic alphabet was used in Yugoslavia ;)

    Anatoly,

I finally buy one of these medals and now you tell me I need three more! Not fair.

    Bryan,

One of your posts shows the ribbon bar device and the others don't. My cased medal did not come with a ribbon bar device so I suppose that one of yours did and the others didn't. Is there a place for the ribbon bar device in the case for the one that shows the ribbon bar device with it? Do you know why some come with the ribbon bar device and some don't?

    Regards,

    Gordon

There is no real place for the ribbon bar device in the case. I guess some might have been lost with the time. My guess is that these were all awarded with the ribbon bar, but this is only a guess.

    Bryan,

Sorry but that doesn't seem reasonable. Why would they recess the bottom of the case for the medal and not the ribbon bar? Are there awards that do have the ribbon bar device in the case with the bottom of the case recessed for it to fit into?

    Regards,

    Gordon

    Bryan,

In rereading my last post I feel that I owe you an appology. For a beginner in studying Jugoslav medals I sound a little strident. When I ask for help I should accept it without questing it. At least until I know more about what I am talking about. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my previous questions.

    Gordon,

there is another variation of this order. The word "ZASLUGE" was changed to "ZASLUGA" in some later manufactured medals. I haven't seen this variation, I can even tell you the type of used letter: latin or cyrilic. It would be intersting to see this variation.

Don't worry Gordon. I haven't seen anything rude in your post. I also don't know the real answer, but the only thing I can say is that all my cased examples from this medal do not have any recess place for the ribbon bars. It seems there is no place allowed for them. Only the big cased orders seem to have a place allowed for the ribbon bars.
