Mike Dunn
Here is a super cabinet style photo of the Kronprinzenpair. This is a great photo of them together, both wearing thier medals. I do have a question about him--Is this Prinz Wilhelm von-Preussen?

Mike Dunn
Christophe-thanks for the reply. I have a postcard of him when he was a child. Question to the ones who know--when was he born as he has a Centennial medal on his medal bar. Notice that he has five medals and only four ribbons?? Typical?? Guest Rick Research
Five medals, five ribbons. He has the 1897 because the little Royal Munchkins were on "active duty" and "Lieutenants" when they were about 10 years old. Princelings weren't regular folks. Christian L
no, there are 5 ribbons - the centenail medal ribbon often gets really dark in those black and whit pictures and here it seems to be a really "black and unidable one" christian(sorry for my 1.st grad style writing )
joe campbell
christian_you express yourself just fine.no apologies are necessary!i am showing a bit of ignorance, but thewoman in this photo - name escapes me -was apparantly quite a character andlived for decades after wilhelm's demise.her name?these period photos are a treasure trove.thanks!joe
Guest Rick Research
Christian's right about the ribbons. For the European royals, I use the EXCELLENT "Online Gotha"--http://pages.prodigy.net/ptheroff/gotha/gotha.htmFinfd the ruling house you want (Prussia, in this case), click on the colored coat of arms, and scroll down. It only lists the basics of births and deaths, but with all descendants and is updated to very close to current.
Mike Dunn
Thanks so much for the insight! I would have never guessed that a yellow ribbon would be dark in photos! Learn something new every day! Mike
Stogieman
Interesting to see the Austrian Jubilee Medal on a Civil Ribbon (red-solid) next to the Centennial Medal
