J Temple-West Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 A few new pieces have been coming in and seeing that the school holidays are over, bringing peace once again to the household, I have some time to get around to doing some photography. So, first up.... a classic by 'C.E Juncker' in the form of their 1st pattern Pilot's badge. This one has the cut-out between the eagle's legs, giving it a more 3D effect than the version without the cut-out... comparison to follow.
J Temple-West Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Note the double strike of the maker mark. Not quite used to the placement of the of the new maker mark tool when changing over from the 'CEJ' mark?
J Temple-West Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 Comparison between the cut-out & non cut-out versions.
Reini Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Outstanding! I prefer the eagle with the cutout as well.BestKurt
ERIC Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Excellent acquisition JTW!! I like all the 1st patterns, but the type with the cutout does indeed inhance the eagles appearence better! ERIC
Bob Hunter Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 There were only two makers of pilot badges---Juncker and everybody else.
J Temple-West Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 Ah ha! The old ?Juncker? Vs the rest debate? As far as pilot?s badges are concerned, I wouldn?t disagree, although I still think that, in their own ways, Juncker & Assmann are on a par. When it comes to a series, however, my preference is squarely behind the name of Assmann?design, construction, finishing and the pure iconography of their pieces still gives me that extra bit of pleasure, especially the early pieces.
J Temple-West Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 A few Juncker pieces for comparison.
Jos Le Conté Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Very nice badges all together.. I also love both Juncker and Assmann when it comes to early pieces..Do you've a picture of the early Beo's next to eachother ?Jos.

Jos Le Conté Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Wow..!Thanks..I've a early Juncker myself, super badge..The Assmann has a certain expression in the face I really like..The whole bird is perfect actually..I definately would go for the Assmann in this case, although both are great !Thanks for showing these great pieces.Jos.
Stijn David Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Hi John, Excellent badge Cordial greetings,
J Temple-West Posted October 29, 2005 Author Posted October 29, 2005 A BIG thanks to you for letting me have it, Stijn. Good to see that you've joined the club.. I hope you won't mind if we call upon you with 'glider' related matters?
Stijn David Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Hi john, It was a pleasure to see this one go into very good hands I have no problem at all when you call me up for the glider stuff => i am just addicted and thrilled iff i hear the word Cordial greetings,
Bob Hunter Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 I love the early pieces too. Still, my Juncker preference is only an opinion. Early Assmans make a strong statement on their own but when it comes to para badges it's different story---Deumer hands down. Again, just an opinion based on a quality coparison of early badges. Don't throw your Juncker paras in the trash based on my opinion.
Guest martin taylor Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 As I've been out of the game for a while, I must say I'd forgotten just how wonderful Juncker Pilot and Observers are, especially the early ones. Although I do think that my personal favourite is the Juncker Para.Apologies for straying a little and pardon my ignorance but on the subject of Gliders, did Deumer make these. I knocked back a Deumer Glider the other year as I thought the catch was too clunky and the ends of the wreath tips were just too far apart. With hindsight I think that may have been a rash decision but just to put my mind to rest, I'd like to ask for your thoughts.Any views?
isonzo Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 Hello, may I show you my favotite "C.E.J." of my collection.Bestisonzo
J Temple-West Posted November 14, 2005 Author Posted November 14, 2005 Welcome, Isonzo.. That 2nd pattern Pilot/Observer is a very nice badge to start with. I would very much like to see the badge that sits next to it... that's just my way of saying...show us more! Any chance of some reverse pictures of the 'Assmann' Ob's badges?
Bob Hunter Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 You have some fine looking badges, Isonzo! Welcome to the forum and enjoy yourself.
