Mmm - a big mistake indeed. You'd probably have found yourself in a 5 star Gulag in Winter in Siberia for that in the USSR!!

I do not have the time to research this as I am mega busy with other things till this evening! But the jet is an ME 262.... and with the pilot being a 2 times HSU and having a kill board as long as heck, I can pretty well assure you its an uncommon incident and not that hard to research.

    Jim

    Hallo,

it is not so difficult but it is hard to find the German pilot. I have found the manufacturers number of the german plane but not the pilot

    Dear Frank,

o.k., if no one finds the name of that poor German Unteroffizier of the 1./KG(J) 54 till tommorrow midnight MEZ, I will take the manufacturers number of the ME 262 instead of it :D .

    Christian,

    How about this:

    1) What do we see at this painting?

    - aircrafts involved

    - pilots involved (name all 3)

    - when exactly happened that incident

    - where exactly happend that incident

    . Messershmitt Me 262 and Lavochkin La-7

    . Ivan Nikitovich KOZHEDUB

    Dmitri TITARENKO

    Kurt LANGE

. 15 February 1945 (although it seems to be incorrectly described as being the 19 by the publisher)

. Over the river Oder ("south of Frankfurt ... following the river Oder")

    2) What was the final improvement (armament) of the Soviet aircraft on the painting at the end of the GPW, which made it to the most superior piston-engined fighter in WW II? (That improvement is not shown at the painting!)

The use of 3 20mm cannons Berezina UB-20 with a capacity of 135 rounds each.

    3) What was the nationality of the Soviet designer of that aircraft, which military rank did he achieve and which where his most superior titles & prizes (quantity & years of awarding) he got?

. Lavochkin Semen Alekseevich was born in Smolensk in a Jewish family

. General Major of Aviation Engineering (1944)

. Hero of Socialist Labor: 1943 and 1956

    Stalin Prize: 1941, 1943, 1946 and 1948

and, as they say, received many orders and medals, among which 3 Orders of Lenin

The 3 cannons of the La-7

    Gentlemen,

I just want to show, how they Soviets implanted the 3 magnficent 20-mm-cannons into the La-7:

That sheer fire-power + the superiour qualities of that plane, made the La-7 to the best piston-engined fighter of WW II - better than any FW 190, Me 109, Mustang or Spitfire :D .

    New question #186

    Gentlemen,

to stay on the "fast track", another simple & easy question.

    New question:

The HSL had been during (and before) the GPW an ultra-rare Soviet award and much rarer, than a HSU.

Despite the extremly low number of awardings till 1945, there had been one occaision during the GPW of a "HSL-mass-awarding".

Which group of people received their HSLs  ?

One simple question - one simple answer ;) .

    Best regards

    Here is some glue then:

    2. Ursula (also known as Ruth) Kuczynski / Hamburger / Beurton / Werner

    5. Swiss communist Pierre Nicolle nicknamed her "Petite Souris" (small mouse) to celebrate her success in penetrating and setting up a reliable spying network in Western governments.

    6. She was personally involved with Roger Hollis who, later on, headed MI5.

I already mentioned all here names, you listed above.

    5. Swiss communist Pierre Nicolle nicknamed her "Petite Souris" (small mouse) to celebrate her success in penetrating and setting up a reliable spying network in Western governments.

    I didn't know that fact  .

    6. She was personally involved with Roger Hollis who, later on, headed MI5.

That's really shocking :speechless1: , specially because it's the boss of MI 5 and not MI 6 ... I also didn't know that fact in Ruth Werner's biography.

    Best regards

BTW: As far, as I remember, I already asked a question here at Christophe's quiz about Ruth Werner's first RB  .

As usual, this should not be overly difficult

    1. What happened on 24 May 1940?

    2. Where did it happen?

    3. Who was involved? (here, you need to give me at least the names of the two main participants)
