Ferg1 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hi guys, anyone care to venture an opinion on this EK thing ! Had it many years, never really could decide really about it early EK or crap ? Reverse is plain with twin holes in each arm. Interested in your thoughts. Ferg1
dond Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I bet the guys on the EK forum could provide answers. :D
Tom Y Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) My first guess would be a cap badge for the old Landsturm oilcloth cap. Is it EK size? 42-43mm?Personally, I like it, but then I've always been considered weird :cheeky: Edited July 17, 2008 by Tom Y
Mike Huxley Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 My first guess would be a cap badge for the old Landsturm oilcloth cap. Is it EK size? 42-43mm?Personally, I like it, but then I've always been considered weird Tom that's an inspired thought and I think you could be right. With the holes in the back to attach to the cap. However, as you said it would depend on the size to help confirm the idea.Mike
Ferg1 Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Here is a picture of the reverse seems to be a yellowy / nickel back plate. Cross is a shade under 40mm,front beading is corroded and rimless. The holes do not go through to the front so could not be sewn on . ???? Ferg1.
Stogieman Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Kind of looks like an EK somebody played serious games with for reasons known only to themselves.... the beading looks quite nice, but it looks like the outer frame was snipped off using tin-snips....
Eric Stahlhut Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 how does the join of the two frames look?probably not something for a uniform. at best, perhaps something for a box or plaque?in any case, this thingy has been put through the grinder. that's for sure!
Ferg1 Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Thanks for the comments so far, the edges are coming apart in places and are fairly poorly soldered but this maybe a repair I guess. I will post an edge view today.Ferg1.
Ferg1 Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Here is a photo of the edge of cross as best I can.Ferg1
