Elmar Lang
Try looking at the cross' rim; possibly, there's the maker's mark, like HMA, BSW, etc.A very rare case; it won't very difficult to complete the set with its proper ribbon bar.Enzo
Iver
Elmar Lang: I will look, when the cross arrives... I have few ribbons, so no problems with completing.. but I didn?t knew, that decorations were given to soldiers with ribbons, i thought they had to buy it.. :)
Elmar Lang
Poor soldiers!... Why should they receive their decorations and medals without ribbon?Of course, the Kaiser's pocket money was enough to pay the costs of ribbons also for Other Ranks...Best wishes,Enzo
Iver
Elmar: I have ment the little ribbon(i dont mean the trifold ribbon).. As far as I know, ribbons (with or with without miniature) were introduced in A-H army during WWI.. so not everyone became a medal with little ribbon... so they had to buy it... or? For those who would like to own one cased Karl-Troops cross, there is one now in auction... Edited February 25, 2009 by Iver
Iver
Elmar Lang: So the cross is here, it?s marked F.A. - Franz Adler? I had a Jubilee Cross 1908 in my collection that was marked F.A., but it was 100% post 1918 production....

Often true with very common medals that the case is worth many times more than the medal. Paul

Tim B
Very nice! This is the first cased one I have seen as well and nice to see the case has remained in such nice condition! Not cased, but still in nice shape. Tim
Tim B
Got me interested and I found my example was also marked on the cross arm (side, not bottom). Looks like "HMA". Tim
Brian Wolfe
Hello Fellows, Mine is not as nice as yours but it too has the initials HMA on the side. Regards Brian
