Is this item in current use by the Bundeswehr? I picked it up for a few bucks assuming it was a fantasy item, but just in case.............

It cannot be in use nowdays, the question should be more along the lines of

1) Was this done with WW2 veterans in mind

2) Was this done as a fantasy item with WW2 vets and collectors in mind.

Could WW2 vets have

1) Worn this on a uniform if serving with the BW

2) Worn this on veteran association jackets after the war.

sorry I am 100 % sure. This badge is not a badge for the Bundeswehr.

For me it looks like a hunting-club-badge.

In my opinion it is also not a badge from WWII - maybe veterans.

If haven`t seen it before.

this piece is pure fantasy, based on the design of a 1957 version (infantry assault badge): a "bird of paradise".
