Bryan Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Any idea what the guy on the right side is wearing? I'm not familiar with this.
HuliganRS Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 He's wearing an early GTO (Gotov k Trudu e Oborony - Ready for Work and Defense) badge.I'll post some pics after I get home.Rusty.
Danny Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Here is an image from a variation circa 1932-1936 with a serial number. There were numerous variations of this badge. This particular one is quite pricey.Ref: Badges of the Defensive Societies of the USSR
Chuck In Oregon Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I have several variations of this badge, with hangers and with pins, but not the one that Danny shows. I think it is pretty hard to find that one. This CCCP - Second Step variant, silver and numbered, is also hard to find and the only example I ever came across "in the wild".Chuck
Bryan Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 Anyone is able to translate the picture please?

Ed_Haynes Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 (edited) Vatslav Bronislavovich Lavrinovich (http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2326) had one too, but I'm not sure that the badge (a duplicate issue) that came with the group is his. His 1934 certificate. Will post the badge when I drag it home post-weekend. Edited November 25, 2005 by Ed_Haynes

You are making the same "mistake" I made ... Bryan is talking about the caption at the back of the pic in post #1. Cheers.Ch.
Ed_Haynes Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Not sure how anyone can post a picture that size, given the severe size limitations in place.
Christophe Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) Yes, hence the mistake... In fact, the pic seems extremely compressed...Ch. Edited November 26, 2005 by Christophe

Danny Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Would these badges have been awarded for passing a course? Like basic training?
HuliganRS Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Yes, You had to pass the GTO course.Rusty.
Guest Rick Research Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I didn't realize there were TWO scans combined in the first post either: one on top of the other we'd have seen it right away. Didn't think to LOOK "off monitor screen."Since the whole thing takes up less than 35KB of space, there are obviously technical skills involved far beyond my understanding! I'm just glad all this is in color and not black and white like television was until I was in college!
Bryan Posted December 1, 2005 Author Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) Thank you Rusty for the traduction! Here is an other pictures of man with Budyonovkas and one with a GTO badge. Edited December 1, 2005 by Soviet
