Thomas W Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Thanks, Chip. I appreciate it. So, who would've issued the order, if it wasn't an AKO? Who else had the authority to set regulations for uniform details?

Chip Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 "Schulterstück Oberstleutnant, feldgraue Litze, Flammenwerfer, Modell 1916, versilberter Totenkopf aufgelegt, sehr selten." http://www.militaria...nant-M1916-D533 Now, that is pretty ridiculous. If there had been such a thing during the war (which there wasn't), it would have been on a pioneer style board, not one from the foot artillery! Chip
Chip Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Thomas, There were several types of orders for setting regulations. What they were called, depended on where they were emanating from. There were Vfg., Erlaß, KMs, AKOs, etc. Chip

Motorhead Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Well,I can't judge his shoulderboards....but some of the EKs he's offering would make me run away. Not the dealer with the best reputation! Micha
Robin Lumsden Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 What a nice fantasy item............. Korrekt! :speechless:
Thomas W Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Robin, here's a flamethrower pioneer of Sturmbataillon Nr. 5 (Rohr) with an unusually dark Totenkopf badge.
Thomas W Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 And here's a Freikorps man with two different styles of Totenkopf badges: one on the left sleeve, and one on the cap.
Sergeant 08 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) here's a flamethrower pioneer of Sturmbataillon Nr. 5 (Rohr) with an unusually dark Totenkopf badge. And the eyes do not look black in my opinion. Edited September 17, 2009 by Sergeant 08
Robin Lumsden Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Robin, here's a flamethrower pioneer of Sturmbataillon Nr. 5 (Rohr) with an unusually dark Totenkopf badge. Thanks, Thomas! That photo shows clearly that not all original FW sleeve TKs conformed to the official pattern............or colour. The TK certainly looks much darker than the usual type..........and I don't think it's just trench dirt.
Robin Lumsden Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 And here's a Freikorps man with two different styles of Totenkopf badges: one on the left sleeve, and one on the cap. Freikorps Gerth, I believe.
Sergeant 08 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) Today some flamethrower and other photos were sold by a seller on ebay. Robin posted one of his photos in #219. Next photo was in another auction of this seller. Because the skull I wonder, had the photo a relation to the Flammenwerfer? Edited September 18, 2009 by Sergeant 08
Thomas W Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) Today some flamethrower and other photos were sold by a seller on ebay. Robin posted one of his photos in #219. Next photo was in another auction of this seller. Because the skull I wonder, had the photo a relation to the Flammenwerfer? I would say "Yes." That looks very similar to chalkboard signs made by the Garde-Reserve-Pionier-Regiment, such as this one made by men of the 7th Company. I wish I'd seen your card, Sergeant08! Edited September 18, 2009 by Thomas W
Sergeant 08 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) Correct! The skull looks like the typical flamethrower skull (Prussia) and I was sure that there was a relation. Thanks, Thomas. Not all ww1 boards were compareable... Edited September 18, 2009 by Sergeant 08
Sergeant 08 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) ...and not all skull windows! Edited September 18, 2009 by Sergeant 08

Very nice! But very high priced, too. It is already the second try of this seller to sell the photo. Edited September 19, 2009 by Sergeant 08
