Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Was very fortunate to pick up this super-rare set Firstly, the award document to the guy's KVK2Feldgendarmerietrupp der Luftwaffe 1111 was the MP unit for 11 Luftwaffe Feld Division
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Photo is in Army uniform the reason for which will become obvious. Note his last rank, so he was obviously commissioned at some late stage in the war.
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Soldbuch is an early one, opened in September 1939, and shows he originally served with a Flak unit.
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 His MP service was originally with the Luftwaffe, but he then transfers to the Army's Feldgendarmerie Trupp c (mot) 941, but note the last entry - Feldgendarmerie Trupp (mot) Kreta !!
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Entries from both the Luftwaffe's 11 Feld Division, and the Army Feldgendarmerie
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 The icing on the cake was that also included were two loose pages from the same guy's Wehrpass showing all his unit affiliations
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 And the areas in which he served.Interesting that the entry for southern Greece has been changed from "Defence" to "Security"
Guest Rick Research Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Interesting indeed. Fairly typical of the young policemen who were reassigned to the expanding Wehrmacht rather randomly (cop to anti-aircraft was rather an abrupt transition!) but this is the first time I've seen somebody re-assigned to policeand in BOTH the army and air force! This guy had a LOT of uniforms!!!!!!
Gordon Williamson Posted June 12, 2009 Author Posted June 12, 2009 Forgot to mention that one of the Wehrpass pages shows him as being at Polizeischule before going into the Luftwaffe, which presumably explains why at some point someone finally realised that he would be better used in the Feldgendarmerie than the Flak.

ian jewison Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 (edited) Not only an interesting Soldbuch which we chatted about at the time Gordon, however what is also interesting to me are the pages from the Wehrpaß. I have a Soldbuch and ancillary documents to a member of 1 Kavallerie, later 24 Panzer Division who was transferred mid 1944 to Grenadier (?) Regiment Kreta and interestingly page 11-12 and 32-33 are the only pages of the Wehrpaß that exist!!! Obviously either something common to that Division or coincidence?!?! Of course other units did this and individuals but it is annoying that the rest of the document probably got tossed in the bin or on the fire! /Ian Edited August 26, 2009 by ian jewison
