webr55 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) I've been wanting to start this thread for a while: Here are a number of pics I found online - from different sources. Some may be easy, some more difficult, some may have been ID'd here already. Anyway - here they come: #1 First, an old fellow: ((ID below: Friedrich Müller)) Edited November 12, 2017 by webr55

webr55 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Back of the last pic: Again --- I'm sorry if some of these belong to anyone here or have already been discussed. I just thought it would be a pity if they got lost.
Komtur Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Max Bliesener, 1864-1931, 1914 Oberst FußAR 16, GM a.D. ArtKdr 43. BTW #3-5 is of quality!
Deruelle Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Hello, About the first photo, maybe I have found the name : Generalleutnant Kurt von Reyher. Christophe
Guest Rick Research Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Numbers 8-9 is CRAZY That is Generalleutnant zV Paul Voit (1876-1949) and he was not entitled to a 40!!!!! He served in the Bavarian army 1895 to 1920 (25 real years, 35 pension years but THOSE did not count for Wehrmacht long service awards!!!), again 1933-39 ( 5 1/2 years = 30 1/2 real years)... and was called up zV for the war ... I have noted other GENERALS who seem to have decided to grant this to themselves... or perhaps GENERALS were exempted from the suspension of processing long service awards during the war for ONLY "40s"? Extremely extremely WEIRD :speechless1:
saschaw Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Last one is Max Bliesener, 1864-1931, 1914 Oberst FußAR 16, GM a.D. ArtKdr 43. (has been identified by Daniel after being shown on a German forum )
webr55 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Thanks naughty Voit -- and thanks to both for Bliesener. No. 1 cannot be Kurt von Reyher - because he did not have the Centenary. Hmmm...
webr55 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) #6 A Baden Oberst of LGR 109 ((ID below: Josef von Fallois)) Edited November 12, 2017 by webr55
webr55 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) #7 A Pioneer Oberst, in Memel 1944 (Photo must be older, yes). ((ID below: Alfred Bonsack)) Edited November 12, 2017 by webr55
webr55 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Looks to me like an HSH Commander around his neck. Luckily, there is some scribbling on the backside:
saschaw Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 A Baden Oberst of LGR 109 NOT A BADEN Oberst but a Prussian Oberst in a Baden unit: He wears a Prussian 1866 cross. Sorry, don't have the Regimentsgeschichte handy... he should be commander of LGR 109, right?
Deruelle Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Hi, About photo n° 1, I have a good match : General Friedrich Müller. I haven't found if he received 1897 medal. Christophe
Deruelle Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Photo n° 8 : Oberstleutnant Alfred Bonsack of R.I.R. Nr. 215 You can see this photo and close up of the medal bar in my topic : my Thuringian collection. Christophe
arb Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 The GR 109 Oberst is Josef von Fallois. He went on to command 57. IB 29. Div. and XIII. AK. Andy
webr55 Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) Many thanks! The first one -- which Friedrich Müller do you mean Christophe? What was his position in 1914? #8 Speaking of Thuringen -- i wonder who this SA Oberführer is: Edited November 12, 2017 by webr55
