For the several members here whose hobby is asking us for the awards of every general level officer who ever lived, one or two at a time...

it isn't necessary to SEE bars, as long as the names are known.

The crucial Rank Lists which reveal ALL-- forever-- are readily available here at GMIC on CD or reprints to solve any question on any such person.

Ask our Paul C. I am a great fan of his reprinted 1924 Reichsheer Rangliste, since I have both and the perfect reprint saves wear and tear on the old one.

For career Wehrmacht army officers who were WW1 veterans, that is THE "key" one to have.

Otherwise you need each of the four 1914 national armies, and the navy on CDs. He has done them for WW1 and the colonial campaigns eras.

Not to mention Daniel's and my WW1 award rolls for those actually interested in exact dates and units of awards to recipients 1914-18.

Having DONE such work producing reference works, and knowing the time and expense involved and the irrationally meagre "financial rewards" which result, I really DO encourage those with open-ended permanent interests to GET THE BOOKS/CDs.

The information is available. Real people laboured long and hard to make old data more easily available now so it IS available--without endless retyping of available data.

    I hate typing.

    I hate typing.

    I hate typing.

Have I mentioned I hate typing? :catjava:

My generation HAD to hunt down and purchase original old refernce sources, at great expense and DECADES of searching. Nowadays younger collectors can have "instant" libraries at fractions of the expense.

    Hello Gentleman,

Surely you have noticed that I am fairly new to this exiting and very professional Forum, and I am happy to be on it.

Some of you Gents, posess incredible knowledge when it comes to identifying fromer owners of Medalbars, therefore I am placing a photo of a recent purchase of mine.

Maybe it will be possible for someone to help me on identifying the former owner/wearer of this bar.

    Your help is greatly appreciated

    Regards

    Ulan

    Hello Heiko Grusdat,

    thanks for the welcome,

I did actualy purchase this bar today in e-bay Germany. The bar looks strange to me too - that is why I posted it. Even though the main awards, EK II, MVO, China 1900 and the 15 years servive medal do not contradict each other timewise. The ribbons look pretty new to me - therefore I believe that only a check in regards to the previous owner can confirm or outrule it authenticy.

Even if the bar itsself would be induvidually constructed - the medals could still be real - No??

Please refer to the other photos:

I can't upload the other photos since this page only permits 70K (which I honestly find very restricted - and I don't really know why).

    Regards

    Ulan

    Hello saschaw,

thanks for the welcome too - and much more thanks for not pushing the price (LoL)

I just read your message in regards to moving this to a new thread - maybe one of the mods can be so nice as to do this?

    Regards

    Hi,

Rick in his post 4 has completly right. Not only authors like Rick, Daniel and Paul has taken time to type (and everyone here know how Rick hates that :catjava: ) but others searchers put their work on the net.

I'm not a TR specialist and when I want to know informations about some Generals, I use that website , here is the link http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/WEHRMACHT/HEER/DasHeer.html

I put a lot of informations from that website but nobody use it.

Most important for searchers are books and sources. Our generation is lucky with internet, so use it correctly.

    Christophe
