Guest Darrell Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Thanks cool. The hinge shot was what I was looking for

Marcus H Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Clearly visible the 'copper', the pin and catch assemblely is made of brass and soldered onto the badge.
greg.hays Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 WOW Marcus...that's a heck of a wound badge .
MIKE12550 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 This is the best wound badge thread I have ever seen! The wound badge in gold in tombak mm30 is my personal favorite! Thanks,Mike
Gordon Williamson Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Don't really go much for 3rd Reich stuff any more but decided to add a set of 1939s (mostly thanks to DaveB) to go with my Imperial Wound Badges.Cased Tombak Gold (30, needle pin) case with Hauptm?nzamt labelCased Zink Gold (unmarked)Cased Tombak Silver (30, Wide pin) case with Hauptm?nzamt labelCased Zink Silver (65)Boxed Black (unmarked, but mint example of the type with ultrafine stippled background)Packeted black. (numarked, packet marked for Fritz Kohm Pforzheim)
don Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 A fine collection Gordon. If you would like to add a couple Imperials go ahead. Many wound badge collectors collect both nazi and imperial in their collections. That is why you are finding both in this thread don
don Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 (edited) This is a unmarked badge Edited February 27, 2006 by don
don Posted February 28, 2006 Author Posted February 28, 2006 Here are a couple shots of my l22s.The l22 is a lighter and thinner zinc badge.
don Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Not as nice as the flat pin, which is on my WANT list
Mike Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Hi Don ..We don't see the L/24 Wound Badges like this that often and ..I didn't know they had 2 different round pin setups, nice variation. Does yours show any traces of Gold finish around the hinge or on the Badge ? I can't tell but, it looks like yours has a Steel pin with some Gold plating/wash still showing. I'm not sure what to make of these now because on mine ...there also seems to be a slight residue of Gold on the back as well as the pin assembly . Is it possible that Zimmermann made a Gold in this lightweight pattern and that's what we both have ?
Mike Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 You can see the gold wash on the edge of the badge and some on the back
Mike Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 It looks like Zimmermann had 2 different Dies for the backs of these Badges ...look at how the "outline" box where the "C" catch is placed are 2 different styles as well
don Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Good day...Yes mine does have gold on the steel pin. Also on my catch there is a oval plate that fits into the oval part of the badge. You can see the outline on yours.Anyways on mine the catch fits into the oval plate.Nice to see another example of round pin L-24 don
