Bob Hunter Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Stunning piece. Congratulations on adding it to your collection.
ERIC Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Superb pre war piece Jan! They don't get much better than that my friend! ERIC
J Temple-West Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 A very nice 1st pattern Juncker. Jan. This badge certainly gets around! I've followed this badge through (including yourself) its last four owners. At last, I think it's found a permanent home. And a good home it is..
Neil B Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Can anybody confirm that these 1st pattern badges were only accepted as stand-alone originals just a few years ago?I just seem to remember a thread at WAF that questioned these and suggested that they may have been early Assman badges.Perhaps I dreamed it though.....(I am not hinting that they are anything but original of coures!)I will search for the thread in the meantimeNeil
J Temple-West Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Hi Neil,Here's a little something on the 1st pattern Juncker Para. The side by side comparison will show why there was this confusion between the 1st pattern Juncker and Assmann badges.http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1619
Neil B Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Thanks for the link John. These pre-war paras are very different from their later bretheren. The first time I came across them was from pictures of Neil Howes early Junker with the unit and name inscription. After a search,I think this is the thread I mentioned earlier:http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...FallschirmjagerThese are obviously pretty rare then-certainly more so than the wartime badges.I must say though,in purely visual terms,I prefer the second style of eagle(wouldn't say no to one of 'em however!)Neil
Guest Darrell Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Very nice JanArne,Good article John, I was almost fooled into thinking Assman Eagle as well when I first laid my peepers on it.
Richard Gordon Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) Congratulations on obtaining your rare badge. That was some update that it was in and quite a few shared the spoils!Rich Edited December 27, 2005 by Richard Gordon
