Noor Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Next find... Romanian ribbon bar with interesting awards. Any comments would be great! First all, because I do not know much about Romania, is the bar right way on the picture?
army historian Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Noor, First ribbon bottom row is Inner-Allied World War 1 Victory Medal. Cheers Captain Albert
Kev in Deva Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 The bar is shown the right way in your picture. 1, Order of the Star of Romania (needs confirmation, off to search my references) 2, Romanian Military Service Medal (same ribbon for Officers & NCO's) 3, Romanian Commemorative Cross of War (WW1) 4, Romanian Inter-Allied Victory Medal. (WW1) 6, Romanian Crusade Against Communism (WW2) 7. Romanian King Carol I Commemorative medal. (Carol on a horse) Your item is a typical bar found during WW2 period up to the end of WW2 in my opinion, A typical representation of a career soldier. Kevin in Deva.
Carol I Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 The first ribbon is that of the Order of the Crown of Romania (type II).
Noor Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thank you guys for information! So, it is officer ribbon bar? Thanks again, Timo aka Noor
Kev in Deva Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Thank you guys for information! So, it is officer ribbon bar? Thanks again, Timo aka Noor In my opinion either a Senior NCO or Officer, as the service medals to both groups used the same ribbon, hard to tell without ever seeing his awards, or a picture. Kevin in Deva.
Paul R Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Great ww1/ww2 service bar. I bet the medal bar was a beauty!
Noor Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 And here is my new Romanian ribbon bar: Order of Michael the Brave (Ordinul Mihai Viteazul) (1)Cross/Medal and Medal of Military Virtue (???)Cross of Sanitary MeritMedal for the Crusade against Communism (Cruciada împotriva comunismului)Medal of Maritime Bravery (???)1 - Awarded to officers only for exceptional deeds on the battlefield. It is the highest ranking Romanian military order. 3rd class was awarded 1628 times (of which 118 awarded to military units).
Kev in Deva Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 (edited) The bar looks to be an original period piece, but I have to comment the swords on the cross of Romanian Medical Merit are wrong. It looks like he was a Navy Medical Doctor possibly deployed in the Crimea or the evacuation of, I would also expect to see the mini bar on his "Crusade Against Communism" Medal for "Mare Negrea" / Black Sea. Noor Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Thanks Kevin, Is there any other award what used same ribbon and can be in this place instead? All the best, Timo
Carol I Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 And here is my new Romanian ribbon bar: Order of Michael the Brave (Ordinul Mihai Viteazul) (1)Cross/Medal and Medal of Military Virtue (???)Cross of Sanitary MeritMedal for the Crusade against Communism (Cruciada împotriva comunismului)Medal of Maritime Bravery (???)1 - Awarded to officers only for exceptional deeds on the battlefield. It is the highest ranking Romanian military order. 3rd class was awarded 1628 times (of which 118 awarded to military units). I'm a bit circumspect regarding this bar. First of all, the ribbons are significantly narrower compared to other bars, even the bar in your first post. Secondly, the swords on the ribbons of the Order of Michael the Brave and the Sanitary Merit Cross... Thirdly, the absence of the gold edges on the ribbon of the Sanitary Merit Cross. By the way, the second ribbon is most likely the Order of the Star/Crown of Romania with swords on Military Virtue Ribbon.
Carol I Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Medal of Maritime Bravery (???) I am also concerned about this ribbon. The Maritime Virtue Medal had three blue stripes, not two...
Daniel Krause Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 it has 3 stripes, the 3rd one is just overlapped by the ribbon before. Maybe the outfitter did not have a proper half-size ribbon for that like for the other dec. so he took a original size one. Greetings Daniel
Noor Posted August 18, 2010 Author Posted August 18, 2010 Thanks for your help guys! Its to me surelly a good bar. Also past well blacklight test Thanks again to ex owner! Timo
Kev in Deva Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Apart from the swords on the first & second ribbon I believe it to be an original, ok bar, its possible that the original owner embellished it for more "bling-bling." You always have the option of removing the erroneous swords or leaving it as is. Kevin in Deva
