army historian Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Actually a very nice and beautiful group. Did you add the pillow or did it come with the group? Cheers Captain Albert
Guest IMHF Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Wow I have never seen medals mounted like that, very nice. Lorenzo

jaba1914 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 The MVM is silver gilded, isn't it? It's not the awarded one. Regards Alex
joe campbell Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 claudio! simply wonderful find, and all the better because it seems so complete. can you tell me the name of the seventh medal which appears to be a veteran's commemorative of some sort? i have a 2 place medal bar (EK 2/this ribbon without the medal). thanks for your help. certainly a great find. joe
VtwinVince Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Great group and even greater EK1. That is what you call a 'heavily padded' Ordensspange.

army historian Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) Claudio, If I remember correctly pillows like that are Death pillows used at Funerals to display a veteran's honors. Extraordinary and Complete group. Do you have a name? Cheers Captain Albert Edited January 11, 2011 by army historian
Claudio Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Hi Albert, Yes, it could have been a pillow used for a funeral... but I don't have any proof of that. Unfortunately I don't have the name of this soldier... and there's no way to tell, I am afraid. ciao, Claudio
Claudio Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 I noticed that the description of this medal bar on Thies' Online auction is not anymore there. Has anyone saved the text of this article? There was a second bar depicted on top of the 10 place medal bar... I really need to know if in this description there was something more about being sold as part of a single group or separately. I am very thankful if anyone could help me. Ciao, Claudio
