TacHel Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 My understanding of the Order of Glory was that you could only get three, one of each class. But here's a veteran with four! Khristenko, Vasily Timofeevich. Order of Glory 1st class # 1794 dated 15 May, 1946 Order of Glory 2nd class # 8964 dated January 24, 1945 Order of Glory 3rd class # 165203 dated November 4, 1944 Order of Glory 3rd class unnumbered dated February 22, 1944. Sorry if the article is in Russian CLICK HERE Is this actually possible?
Paul R Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Wow... it could be possible if he was awarded the 3rd class a second time erroneously. That is cool! I wonder if he ever wore them like that.

Paul R Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Looks like a screw up happened somewhere; either the first 3rd class documentation got delayed or the folks reviewing his record for the second one did not realize he already had one... Beyond cool!!
Ferdinand Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 It happened from time to time due to the sometimes chaotic front-line situations. The award nomination sheets weren't always perfectly in order regarding the overview of previous awards. It mostly happened with 3rd Classes, but this guy received two 2nd Class Orders (and a 3rd Class and 1st Class): http://www.warheroes.ru/hero/hero.asp?Hero_id=9403
JapanX Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 (edited) My understanding of the Order of Glory was that you could only get three, one of each class. ... Is this actually possible? Ferdinand is right - this happened because of mistake and/or slow circulation of documents... Two additional examples of repeated 2nd class awarding (both are full cavaliers) Hero of Soviet Union Naldin V.S. http://www.warheroes.ru/hero/hero.asp?Hero_id=9381 Petrukovitch A.S. (very nice photo!) http://www.warheroes.ru/hero/hero.asp?Hero_id=9391 Cheers, Nick Edited April 25, 2012 by JapanX
JapanX Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Another full cavalier with 4 Slavas Nikolay Litvinenko
JapanX Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 But of course repeating awardings (as Ferdinand said earlier) mostly happened with 3rd classes. Let`s examine several such groups ;)
