drclaw Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 A handsome tiger indeed. That "9I" digital mark is still a mystery.
JapanX Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 That "9I" digital mark is still a mystery. Unfortunately ... Same goes to others letter/number marks on Tigers...
JapanX Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Interesting two docs for 3rd and 4th classes of Striped Tiger issued general Sato Saburo
drclaw Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) The 3rd Class is signed by President Feng Guozhang. It appears that the Republic followed the Japanese practice of having the First, Second and Third Class documents personally signed by the head of state. The documents themselves closely copied Japanese award documents with minor differences. The top image features the particular badge / class of the award (in Japanese documents, this image is the chrysanthemum). The bottom image features the lapel rosette (in Japanese awards, this image is the badge of the award). While the original decrees specified that award documents were to be numbered, this did not occur in practice from what I can tell. Edited June 11, 2013 by drclaw
JapanX Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 t appears that the Republic followed the Japanese practice of having the First, Second and Third Class documents personally signed by the head of state. Only these are placed under the seal
JapanX Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 From the Yong Zeng Zi Zao workshop. It`s interesting by this double punched seal
JapanX Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Kitty looks quite serious Gold gild is clearly visible
drclaw Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 From the Yong Zeng Zi Zao workshop. It`s interesting by this double punched seal If this was a stamp it would be worth 10 times the value This is one of the nicer looking Yong zeng tigers. Some of the Yong zeng tigers look downright cartoony.
JapanX Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 Like them too! These serious "don't mess with me" tigers P.S. If this was a stamp it would be worth 10 times the value Let's wait a little bit... I remember the times when collectors of soviets awards bought orders with unusually positioned (or stamped) marks with a premium (sometime quite substantial )
JapanX Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Another breast star from Lao Tian Li Zhi workshop.
drclaw Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 That's a beauty. Does the green grass enamel look chipped to you? At the 6 o'clock position under the tiger's feet?
JapanX Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Definitely chipped and this happen not yesterday ;)
drclaw Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 750,000 yen is a lot for a chipped Third Class. Even for a pristine Third Class. No wonder it's still Buy It Now on YJA.
JapanX Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) 750,000 yen is a lot for a chipped Third Class. To put it very mildly! P.S. Same goes for the 2nd class breast star without case and neck badge Edited January 25, 2014 by JapanX
JapanX Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Guys, check out this 1st class set made Yong Zeng Zi Zao workshop
