pinpon590 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) Hi guys ! Here is my last acquisition : a nice wurrtemberg military merit order knight cross : The cross is in silver gilt. Does someone have an idea of the maker ? Please show yours ! Edited May 20, 2012 by pinpon590
palencia Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Congrats, a lovely piece. The manufacturer is probably the Koniglichen Munzamt in Stuttgart. To distinguish a Friedrichsorden of E. Fohr of an exemplar of the National Mint is relatively simple, but a Wurttemberg MVO....is more difficult.
Dave Danner Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 A very nice decoration. Here is mine: http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2012/post-432-0-67124900-1337539169.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_05_2012/post-432-0-49909500-1337539184.jpg

saschaw Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 From what I understand from the stunning Raff/Klein book, this is a cross by the Stuttgart mint.
pinpon590 Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 Now this, shown on huesken.com : Note the different ring... Other maker ???

saschaw Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I'm not sure if the Hüsken cross might be a mint cross with a repaired suspension. Hard to tell from the pictures. If it isn't, it's a wearer's copy - in best case. The book I'm referring to is "Klein, Ulrich und Raff, Albert" - "Die Württembergischen Medaillen von 1864 - 1933". You can order it (and the other volumes, covering the earlier medals) at Bretzendorfer's: www.bretzendorfer.de
