Hauptmann Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Hi all. This is one piece from a grouping that Nick's (Obergefreiter) brother in law got from a WW2 veteran who brought them all back. He sent the collection to Nick for ID, valuation and hopefully sale. Nick and I met over in Devils Lake at the coffee house again last week... I took my Epson and did scans of just about everything in the collection save a bit of documentation (not award docs) which he'll be getting scanned back at his library. Neither Nick nor I have any reason to doubt the authenticity of the grouping, but due to the rarity of this and one other badge and the fact they've been reproduced to death over time, we want to make as sure as possible they are good ones.
Hauptmann Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Any help on this is deeply appreciated! Dan
Obergefreiter Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 After having held this one in my hand, I can see why Dan drools when he sees it. It's a solid beauty. ;)
Hauptmann Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Yup... definitely one to drool over. It's built like a brick battleship... very well made. I only wish I'd handled a ton over the years but this is my first. If it's not good then I think it's time for Nick and I both to just throw our hands up and give up the game. Dan
Obergefreiter Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 No one out there would like to see this in person?
Laurence Strong Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 From what I can tell and looking at similar examples over on GCA it's a period piece. later larry
Obergefreiter Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Thanks, Gents. There are others in the grouping as well. Feel free to look and comment.
