Tsend Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 I took this photo at the Marshal G. K. Zhukov's house museum in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In fact Zhukov lived in this very building from 1939 to 1940. The photo shows his uniform and orders pertaining to his time in Mongolia. Also, there is an Order of the red Banner of Military Valor of the Mongolian People's Republic. Zhukov was awarded with such an Order for his feat in deafting the Japanese at the river Khalkha in September 1939.
Tsend Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Marshal Zhukov's Marshal's tunic. The HSU stars must be official museum copies.
JapanX Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Marshal Zhukov's Marshal's tunic. The HSU stars must be official museum copies. I bet the tunic is museum copy too Most likely same goes to the 1939 tunic ... Any close ups of orders? Thanks for posting Tsend! Cheers, Nick
Greg Collins Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 An absolutely incredible individual... thanks for the post.
Tsend Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 The Order of Red Banner of Military Valor of the Mongolian People's Republic. This type order was awarded to Zhukov in 1939. This order, on display at the same museum, is original. But none knows if it belonged to Zhukov himself.
JapanX Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 This mongolian 1931 Red Banner looks really nice (and with original box ) Unfortunately (judging by its mint condition) it doesn't belong to Zhukov (or anybody else). Most likely they used unissued order. Thanks, Nick
JapanX Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 (edited) ... incredible ... Excellent adjective mate! Especially since (among many other great innovations) this great strategist figured out that the most cheap, easy and quick way to clear mine fields will be using your own troops - simply let them go They called him a man-eater ...
